1032.0. "Fantastic experience with new leasing service!" by STRWRS::KOCH_P (It never hurts to ask...) Wed Jan 29 1997 19:36

    Well, I want to tell you about my recent experience using the new lease
    service from DCU. In one word: FANTASTIC! This new company we are
    working with is great. Although I had a false start due to the fact
    that DCU sent out 60,000 mailers without telling this company is
    probably why it happened.

    After I got a hold of them, it was just a matter of 7 days before I got
    the car I wanted. I wanted a 48 month lease with 15,000 miles per
    year with no money down. I got exactly that. I will be picking the car
    up on Friday at the dealer.

    The person you interact with is Debra Milko. I'm just too stunned for
    words about how easy this was.

1032.1Glad to see your noteMAL009::MAGUIREThu Jan 30 1997 03:2113
    Hi..I'm glad to see this note about the leasing. I was looking in here
    last night for some info on it because my daughter (a member) is
    interested in looking into a lease arrangement on a used car....in the
    hope that it's much cheaper than leasing new.

    My son-in-law has been leasing for a long time, and finds it very hard
    to believe that there is no penalty for early return. He hasn't joined
    DCU yet, but this may coax him. I have never looked into leasing at
    all, so I really don't understand how it works.

    Thanks for the info....

    How do the rates compare compared to purchasing a new car or truck,
    especially when you go 48 months with 15k ?
    AM I correct in assuming that you can turn in the vehicle before the
    lease runs out and there is no penalty?

1032.3STRWRS::KOCH_PIt never hurts to ask...Thu Feb 06 1997 23:406

    Well, the interest rate is 7.15%. NO MONEY DOWN. NO ACQUISITION FEE.
    NOT A SINGLE PENNY did I have to spend of my own money. It took me 30
    minutes to pick the car up and I got treated just like a top of the
    line buyer who walked in off the street.

    	What about car insurances, etc ?

    	So you can turn the vehicle in at any time before the lease runs
    out and not be penalized even though your breaking a contract ?

    	How much more for the 15k vs 12k a year ?

    	Do you pick it up at a local dealership ?

    	How much $$$ do you save per month vs purchasing the same vehicle ?

1032.5What about sales tax?UNXA::ZASLAWSteve ZaslawFri Feb 07 1997 16:586
What about sales tax on leased cars in states with sales tax? I'm sure the
state must collect. Is it based on the total cost of the lease contract, or
what? Anyone know? This amounts to a big pile of money on say a $20K car
purchase.

Thanks.
1032.6If I'm remembering correctly...RMULAC.DVO.DEC.COM::S_WATTUMScott Wattum - FTAM/VT/OSAK EngineeringThu Feb 20 1997 18:452
The last time I leased a car in Colorado, the sales tax was on the monthly bill,
that is, I was taxed on the monthly lease payment.
