| Be sure to get price quotes from other companies - you may find that
even with your "discount and dividend checks" Metpay is more expensive than
a firm which provides better service.

980.2 | Trying to stay away from ratholing this as a METPAY note | ENGPTR::MCMAHON | DEC: ReClaim TheName! | Mon Feb 26 1996 12:49 | 9 |
| I understand that and I encourage everyone to shop around before
making a selection of this importance. I know I certainly do.
I was just applauding DCU for taking this step and providing
yet another service for it's member/owners. If/when we leave
the company, it's nice to know that one can still keep insuring
with Metropolitan on a discount basis if one so chooses.
I don't want this to turn into a METPAY war-story note. That's been
done in other conferences.

980.3 | two questions | IROCZ::MORRISON | Bob M. LKG1-3/A11 226-7570 | Fri Mar 01 1996 16:16 | 10 |
| Two questions:
1. For residents of MA, is Metpay thru DCU a better deal than Metpay thru
Digital? I know I can pull out all my materials and figure it out, but why
reinvent the wheel if someone has already done this?
2. Can non-DECcies who have Metpay thru DCU see an insurance agent in person,
as DECcies can? Or must they do all business by phone or mail? There are some
cases where you really need to see someone in person, such as when you transfer
your registration from another state to MA, or when you trade cars.

| Metpay thru DCU vs. Metpay thru Digital...
Assuming that this is Massachusetts car insurance, the only
difference would be the group discount that's given. Digital
drivers seem to be pretty safe and usually pull down @18% discount
thru Metpay (vs. Raytheon 12% group discount, for example). If the
DCU driver group is even safer, then they'd theoretically be cheaper.

980.5 | Seeing a rep in the flesh? | IROCZ::MORRISON | Bob M. LKG1-3/A11 226-7570 | Thu Mar 28 1996 15:08 | 9 |
| Is anyone on the DCU board reading this? If so, can you answer the question
re seeing a Metpay rep in person? Most Metpay offices in Digital plants are
beyond the point where visitors can go unescorted. So that leads to the next
question: Can non-DECcies who have Metpay thru DCU do business in person with
a "public" Metropolitan rep?
I expect that some Digital retirees, who don't have access to this notesfile,
are asking these questions right now. People in that generation are even more
uncomfortable about doing business with someone entirely by mail and phone than
younger people are.

| Bob,
Certainly directors read this conference, at least two of us do. But this
isn't the kind of question that directors answer. I don't know the details
for the MetPay program. Any detailed questions should be directed to the
Information Center. That's what they are there for.
You could also call 1-800-GET-MET-1 and ask them how they plan to serve
you.

| IN HLO the METPAY office is between the inner and out doors of HLO2
next to the Cash Machine. The DCU is insode the second set of doors
across from the Security desk and before the checkpoint. Visitors to
either/each ocation go completely unchallanged by Security.

980.8 | Discounts are different | PX64::HO | Like money in the bank | Mon Apr 08 1996 14:28 | 6 |
| The flyer from the DCU gives discount levels of 10% auto/20% home.
The poster for Digital lists discounts of 12% auto/40% home.
Dividend levels are set at the end of the year. Last year, the Digital
dividend was 18%. There was no DCU dividend, since Metpay was not available
through DCU last year.

980.9 | Transitioning from MetPay with Digital to MetPay with DCU | MUZICK::RITCHIE | Elaine Kokernak Ritchie, 227-3089 | Thu Apr 25 1996 16:31 | 31 |
| I recently call MetPay to find out what the difference is between coverage
under the DCU group compared to the Digital group. This is what I found.
When you leave Digital, you will lose payroll deduction for paying
Metropolitan insurance bills. You will also lose the Digital discount, and
the nice dividend checks every Spring (Digital is the only employee group that
currently gets these dividends, incidentally).
Metropolitan will honor the discounts you currently have until the policy
renews.
You can choose to be billed for future payments, or authorize automatic
withdrawal from a checking account.
If you are a member of DCU, you can renew your insurance under that group. The
differences are:
Auto insurance Digital discount 12%
DCU discount 10%
Home insurance Digital discount 35%
DCU discount 20%
I didn't ask about others, because that's all I carry. If you are a member of
DCU, I think they said you can also choose to have the payment deducted from
a DCU account, which implies a savings account. Please check this before
making any assumptions.

Yes, you can have your monies deducted from any DCU account
(checking, savings, etc..) you name.
I check this out when my Mom was looking for insurance.

980.11 | MA Digital Metpay members not getting rebate this year | NETCAD::MORRISON | Bob M. LKG2-A/R5 226-7570 | Thu Mar 27 1997 16:07 | 9 |
| MA customers of Metpay thru Digital are not getting a rebate this year be-
cause last year's (1996) bad winter resulted in heavy claims for auto and home
insurance, which in turn caused Metropolitan to incur a loss on the Digital
group for the year.
On re-reading this string, I see that Metpay has never paid dividends to
DCU group customers. And since Metpay offers larger discounts to Digital
customers than to DCU customers (this is true for MA also, right?), there
is no reason that I can see for DCU members in MA who work for Digital to
change over from the Digital group to the DCU group.
