801.0. "Can my child vote?" by CRAMTB::FALKOF () Mon Mar 28 1994 13:27

    My son is 16-years old and received a ballot for the upcoming election.
    His account is a UGMA (formerly ITF), and my name is still on it. Since
    he is 16, must he vote and sign to have the vote count, or am I able to
    vote in his behalf, signing my name as trustee (or whatever)?

    I would say that the person that signs it should be the same person
    whose name appears on the ballot. 16 year old members can vote.

    Maybe you should call DCU Election Coordinator Pat Coye (DTN 223-6735,
    x180) to make absolutely certain.
801.2DCU response to ballot questionCRAMTB::FALKOFWed Mar 30 1994 10:1214
    I spoke to Pat Coyle (who was very pleasant, replied after 6:00 P.M. to
    voicemails and left meaningful messages, who did research offline prior
    to our final conversation) who said that if you are the trustee of an
    account for a person who is over 16 (and who received a ballot), you
    may handle it in either of these two ways:
    	1. You can sign it and say you are trustee.
    		I would sign as, "Eric Falkof, trustee"
    	2. The person himself can sign.
    		My son would sign his own name.

    Pat had checked with the Teller of Elections. I asked, and she said
    I could post this info in the notes file. Phil (-.1), thanks for
    pointing me to her. She should get an attaperson for diligence,
    pleasantness, and thoroughness.

    I'll second that. I have nothing but praise for Pat Coyle. I couldn't
    have asked for a more helpful person to work with in getting my
    candidate material together for the ballot. She ALWAYS returned my
    phone calls.

Pat is on the Credit Appeals Committee with me. She's a great
person to work with. I wish everyone I worked with around here
and at DCU were like her.
