If I succeed in getting elected to be a director I will be heavily
pushing the DCU management to look into this sort of thing. If it can't
be done I'd like to clearly understand why. DCU needs to get ready for
the 21st century.

785.2 | Before we do that, how about more VISA updates | AWECIM::MCMAHON | Living in the owe-zone | Tue Mar 22 1994 13:23 | 6 |
| Sort of along the same line - how about if they upload payment data to
VISA more than once a day at 15:00? You know, you make an EasyTouch
payment at 16:00 and it doesn't become available until the update the
next day at 15:00. What are the issues involved in doing this hourly
or -gasp- as the payment is made?

I agree! This would be nice!

| RE: .1
Clearly there could be a way for the DCU to create Quicken
importable files, .QIF, that could be downloaded automatically
to Quicken. We're not talking rocket science.. Just SMOP. Even
just having someplace to dial in that I could copy the .QIF files
from would be fine for now.. A totally integrated environment like
Intellicharge would be awesome.
Hopefully someone will call Intuit, the makers of Quicken, and see
what can be done.
I wish you luck Dave. You and your crew will be getting my vote.

785.7 | | STRWRS::KOCH_P | It never hurts to ask... | Sun Mar 27 1994 14:11 | 18 |
| I have asked (a long time) ago if we could get some simple changes to
the touch tone system.
1. Read checks that have cleared so that the the latest ones to
be received are the first read. Also, given that you could get more
than 5 checks cleared in a day, a way to input "read the last 'n'
cleared checks" back to me.
2. A way to input a check number to see if it has cleared the
account.
As many others have stated, this is NOT rocket science. These changes
will benefit everyone. I want these done before Quicken support (I have
Quicken and would love it anayway) so that the highest number of the
membership can be served.
If they can't do this, do you really expect them to provide Quicken
support?

As a followup, I've sent mail to Dave Garrod today to ask if
there has been any progress in this issue. Myself, I'd be happy
with the DCU emailing me a QIF file with my stuff.
We'll see what Dave says.

I thought I had included this already but in the confusion of the
holidays, I didn't.
Here is Dave Garrods reply to my further inquiry of electronic
statements.

Subj: Re: Electronic DCU statements
Mke,
The subject of Electronic access to DCU has come up several times at
board meetings and at the planning conference. As you can imagine
several board members have encouraged management to seriously
look at this.
The good news is that the items:
- Investigate PC-remote Banking
- FAX-automated document sending
- Internet Access
were all brought up at the planning conference and amongst other
things are formally noted as action items with a responsible
person named for each. The responsible person for each of
the above is Mary Madden (although I expect she will
actually delegate the responsibility) and the plan is for one of the
Quality Teams to look into each of the above sometime
in 1995 as well as to allocate budget for this investigation.
So bottom line is that there is a commitment to investigate
Electronic Banking/Access for the DCU. As for what actually
comes out of the investigation it is too early to say. I will
pass on your mail message to Mary Madden as one piece
of source material for the Quality Team that will investigate
this area.
You may share this message with others if you wish,
Dave
