Pretty cheeky of DCU management to try to control activities in a
facility that grants it free space.
Methinks Chuck should take another look at his "Don't be a DICK"
t-shirt.

| How does the DCU manage to set these "policies" which extend past their
boundaries? What gives them the expectation that they can do so? Could
the board investigate this?

Jack, To quote a response that I recall you made to something or
other that Mark Steinkrauss had done, "The arrogance is astonishing."
IMO, that accounts for it.

Well, I grew to expect arrogance from Mark and the old guard, er, board.
But I guess I didn't realize it had rubbed off so indelibly on DEFCU
management. . . .

Maybe it _came_from_ DEFCU management?
On the other hand, it could just be the particular branch manager doing her own
thing. Remember, the management has taught them that all challenges to the
management are evil threats to their livelihood.

You don't really know if it was from DCU Management.
It could have come from another director, and disguised
as being from DCU management.
Wouldn't surprise me one bit.

I meant the attitude came from management to the old board, not the other way
around

No. What the branch manager had was computer generated output on the
thing they print out receipts on. It definitely looked like it came
from DCU HQ. It didn't look locally generated to me.

777.12 | Why am I not surprised? | SPECXN::WITHERS | Bob Withers | Fri Mar 11 1994 16:25 | 17 |
| I am not surprised in the least. To me, this smacks of two things:
First -- fear. Ol' Chuck is probably afraid that he'll be out of a job
if the G3 ticket wins and wants to prevent them from spreading their
message.
Secondly, this reeks of the DCU's self-serving arrogant attitude. I'm
not talking about the people in the branches who are generally nice,
but the folks who instigate Relationship BANKing, holiday clubs, and
inane letters saying that chidlrens' accounts have a status of "inept"
or whatever the letter says.
BobW
PS, I am surprised that the "DCU Policy" said 100 feet rather than
100KM 8-(

777.13 | | PATE::MACNEAL | ruck `n' roll | Fri Mar 11 1994 16:30 | 2 |

so it doesn't look like they are actively endorsing a candidate.

Then DCU should not have placed a branch within 100 feet of an area
defined as a cafeteria. We don't make the policies, we only live by them.
After all, Digital employees were here first.

Well, actually that was why I proposed that the board investigate it. Might
be kind of interesting . . .

"Yes. Very well then, arrest anyone who listens!"

RE: .17 Thanks for the laugh!
This sort of stuff went on two years ago too. It didn't stop us then
and it won't stop us now. You'd think somebody might have learned that
but I guess not. Like I said, full circle in two short years...
