775.0. "Marketing idea: Make it easier for remote members" by GRANMA::DLEADER (Dave Leader) Thu Mar 10 1994 17:32
I wonder how many DCU accounts are held by field people who never have access
to a DCU branch or Easy-Cash 24 machine? I have only a limited number of
transactions with DCU and most of my savings, loans and checking accounts are
with banks local to my home. Why??? 'Cause I also need to get my hands on
cash and the DCU makes it very expensive to do that!
Easy-Cash 24 --- $1.00 per transaction. What DCU alternative do I have?
Cash advance on DCU VISA? Interest charges begin as soon as the
transaction is completed.
With these scenarios, and the fact that no local bank will "cash" a check on
an institution located out of state.... why should I consider direct deposit
of my paycheck so that I can take advantage of the many DCU offerings?
I suggest that if DCU were to waive the $1.00 fee for Easy-Cash 24, a good
deal of account holders would use many more of the other services as a result.
Are there enough people in this category to consider a change in policy?
Am I off base on this? Any other input from folks not near a DCU branch?

| This comes up all the time. See topic 724 for example. Also do a
DIR/TITLE=ATM and you'll find a whole bunch of other notes on the
topic of ATMs. Many of them discuss how this fee effects DCU members
outside the GMA.
