692.0. "Business Week on Bank Fees and Credit Unions" by SLOAN::HOM () Fri Sep 10 1993 23:35

    The Sept 20th issue of Business Week has a very interesting article on
    bank fees (page 108-109). It mentions [for banks] that "relationship,
    or linked, accounts can ensure that you don't sink below the minimum"
    and thus avoid fees.

    It also states that "Credit unions often better deals as well. Many
    don't have minimum-balance requirements, yet pay higher interest on
    savings adn throw in such services as traveler's checks and foreign ATM
    use for free."

692.1Fees for foreign ATM usage?RANDLF::BALSAMOTue Sep 14 1993 12:0414

       Speaking of ATMs (and perhaps this is answered elsewhere, but I just
   tuned in), what is DCU's policy concerning ATM usage at foreign ATMs? Is
   there a charge? When I first came to DEC 10 years ago, I looked into the
   DCU for a checking account, but decided against it when I learned that
   withdrawals from foreign (ie, non-dcu) ATMs were going to cost me
   transaction fees.

   Thanks,
   Tony

Yes, there is a $1.00/transaction charge for use of non-DCU ATMs.

692.3Are fees coming for share draft acctsGRANPA::TMARTINWed Sep 15 1993 13:187
    I've heard that DCU is again thinking about instituting some kind of
    fee structure on share draft accounts. Is this true? Does anyone
    know anything about this???

    Thomas,

    Do a set seen/before=1-SEP-1993

    Then read all the notes that follow with the <Enter> key (not return)

    That should answer your question ...
