[This note may be forwarded to any DCU member. I may also be reposted
in any other notes file that will allow it. The original note header
must be retained and the note may not be altered in any way.]
The DCU Supervisory Committee (SUPCOM) currently has an
opening. The DCU Board will be appointing a replacement
committee member at its meeting on August 24th. The process
to fill this voluntary position is as follows:
1. Anyone that is interested in "applying" for the
opening should forward a letter stating why they
wish to volunteer and how they can contribute to
the committee. A brief resume is suggested.
DUE DATE: End of business, August 13th
VIA: E-Mail to Phil Gransewicz at
ASE003::GRANSEWICZ or to Stephanie Pomfret
at DCU HQ
2. We will send each applicant a list of SUPCOM
responsibilities and expected time commitments.
After reading the material, if the applicant
decides not to continue in the process they can
contact Stephanie directly at (508) 493-6735 x203
or DTN 223-6735 x203.
3. At the Board meeting, the Board will vote on the
applicants.

Another method of getting the word out to DCU members is via electronic
distribution lists. Anybody that maintains or has access to such lists
are welcomed to send the announcement of this opening. The more people
that know about it the better.

Nope.
 Network Brochure - Request denied.
Why? I would think a DCU publication would be ideal for such an
announcement. How about a Board Memo?

I finally received word back from Digital Today about publishing the
announcement. They denied the request. It was submitted July 28 and
was replied to August 7.
RE: .7
This is the mail I sent to Lisa Ross concerning placing notice of this
position in the Network brochure. The response was that we'd place a
generic posting in future issues asking people who were interested in
the future to be placed on a mailing list. Personally, I believe each
member should be notified at the time of the opening but a majority
does not share that opinion.

Subj: Supervisory Comm. opening
Lisa,
This is the info posted for the last opening. Please forward to
me the current info, procedure and requirements. I will post them
anywhere on the network that allows them.
I want to also formally request that notice also be posted in all
DCU branches and that a conspicuous notice be included in the next
Network publication. Since there are still four members on the
Supervisory Comm. and they are not meeting every month, there does
not appear to be a time constraint on appointing someone. I think
it is more important that we notify all potential volunteers of this
opening than to rush unnecessarily into filling the vacancy.

How can I determine what I can contribute to the committee if you won't
tell me what my responsibilites will be until after I tell you what I
don't know? Catch 22 here?
Seems to me that mail or a call to DCU should get me the required
material, before I apply.

Well, progress anyways. I'll speak with the VTX people and see what
the possibilities are. They've been very receptive and helpful so
far.
