628.0. "Direct deposit for ESPP stock sale?" by ALFPTS::GCOAST::RIDGWAY (Florida Native) Mon Dec 14 1992 13:36

Is there anyway to sell our ESPP stock and have its proceeds directly deposited
into our DCU account?

thanks,

628.1good idea but wrong place to ask for it I suspectCVG::THOMPSONRadical CentralistMon Dec 14 1992 13:476
I was wondering the same thing. I'm expecting a check or I might
have waited to dig out my mailbox from under all that snow. :-)
I suspect that it's up to the stock purchase people to make it
happen. After all the DCU will take deposits from anyone I hope. :-)

628.2Looks like ya can't get there from here....ODIXIE::RIDGWAYFlorida NativeMon Dec 14 1992 15:199
We'll I've checked with DCU and Investor Services and neither group has
any idea as to what I was talking about. IS basically said they can't do
direct deposit, but when pressed for a reason they couldn't give me one.

Oh well....It seemed like a good idea. I've submitted it to DELTA,
perhaps they have more clout that we the customer!

This might actually be more costly. The check stub also has some tax
and commission info on it that needs to be sent to the seller. Also,
some sort of written confirmation would still need to be sent to people
considering you're dealing with potentially thousands of dollars.

And then there is the matter of timeliness. Direct Deposit would
definitely get deposited faster than the current process. But I don't
think the company wants that. Consider all the money being made on the
float. As a matter of fact, a friend of mine told me he received his
check on a Sat. and the date on the check was the following Monday.
I'm sure the float factor (as well as all the interest earned on your
money while it is being held) is being figured into the 15% discount
at which we buy the stock.

Just my guess anyways... Please let us know what kind of a response
    you get from DELTA.

I submitted this idea to DELTA also, and they responded that it was
impractical and difficult to implement since stock sales come at random
intervals (unlike paychecks which are scheduled). They're required by
law to send you the money within 10 days, so I guess they don't want to
    constantly be processing funds transfers.

I still think it's a good idea, though.

Bad excuse; expense reimbursements also come at random intervals, but
    they are very successfully direct-deposited.

Sounds like time for "Those who propose - push back!"
