612.1 | The communication is very welcome | SMAUG::GARROD | Floating on a wooden DECk chair | Wed Sep 30 1992 21:25 | 26 |
| I've already moved it to note 4. It'll be in 4.1 when Paul writes a
basenote for 4.0 which I'll then move into 4.0.
Dave, speaking as the moderator
Now here's Dave speaking as a DCU member. I'm very glad to see the DCU
being able to use Digital's (DCUs host organization) electronic network
to communicate with the membership. VTX is good because it is an
excellent broadcast medium. Here (NOTES) is good because it gives
members a chance to communicate back to the directors.
I find it a shame that only 2 board members (Phil and Paul) regularly
contribute to this forum. It would be nice to hear from the other board
members too. If I recall correctly there have been one or two notes
from one other board member (Tanya) and zilch from the other four.
Regarding the Credit Appeals committee. The way it has been set up I
think provides a good balance between DCU management and members. I
think it correct that the DCU management has the majority on the
committee. I'd not like to see non elected volunteers have the
majority. The DCU should be run by its management not its members.
Of course there is always the check and balance of the DCU board (as
elected representatives of the owners) having the final say should the
strategic direction that the management is going is not in keeping with
the direction the board wants the DCU to go in.

612.2 | Telephone appeals? | SCAACT::AINSLEY | Less than 150 kts. is TOO slow! | Thu Oct 01 1992 09:42 | 7 |
| I suspect that you are still working out the details of how the CAC
will be implemented. I suggest that you allow the CAC to hear appeals
via telephone, otherwise the CAC will serve only the GMA members. I
know of at least one other credit union that allows such appeals to be
made via phone.

I suspect none. However, I believe that when starting something brand
new like this it is an advantage to have the ability to have easier
face to face meetings. As well as the people resources of HQ. Once
it's going and the process is better understood it will be easier to
involve remote (from GMA) people.
