571.0. "After two days did anybody notice?" by GUFFAW::GRANSEWICZ () Wed Jun 17 1992 12:56

Well, I must say I am very disappointed in the normally eagle-eyed
members in here. Have members at Spitbrook, Salem or Westminster
noticed anything different at the branch? Have you noticed anything
    different around LUNCH time???

I did receive one mail message from somebody at my site about it. They
    were pleased.

Perhpas it really wasn't that big an issue afterall, Phil. Perhaps
this file is not truly representative of DCU membership?
571.2GUFFAW::GRANSEWICZWed Jun 17 1992 13:296

Or perhaps members have just stopped going to the branches during
these times and going during the day? Then again, it WAS only at 3
branches, not all of them as I had hoped.

Do these branches have anything posted calling attention to the new hours?
571.3as I tell my wife, just because I don't comment doesn't mean I didn't notice :-)CVG::THOMPSONRadical CentralistWed Jun 17 1992 13:3513
I noticed. Salem (NIO) had signs up a week or so ago announcing that
they would be working through lunch again. I was pleased. The teller
I talked to seemed less pleased. She pointed our that there would
have do be fewer tellers on at a time during the lunch hours. This
is true and there are a lot of people who bank during lunch here. But
I believe that the work will spread out as people realize that there
is a bigger lunch time window to work in.

I had wanted to put something in here last week but I couldn't find
where we'd talked about it before and didn't really want to open a
	new topic.

Two more will follow next month, Colorado and Littleton. These are the
larger branches (>3 DCU employees). Marlboro (both), Merrimack, Hudson,
DCU HQ and the Mill never did close at lunch.

Progress? Yes. Ideal? Not in my opinion. The work continues...

I am quite certain that MRO3 used to close during part of the lunch hour.
However since moving to MRO1 I don't try to use MRO3 at lunch any more, so
it could have changed.

571.10New Hours At DCUBEDROC::TCOLLENTINEThu Jun 18 1992 09:5121

I recently moved from MRO2 to SHR3. The DCU in Marlboro has always
been open during lunch hours. I was surprised last week when I walked
over to SHR1 from SHR-3 to find the DCU closed at lunch. I assumed
all DCU branches where open during lunch hour. Are there any plans to
have the Shrewsbury DCU in SHR1 open during lunch hours?

The service received from the Marlboro DCU branch employees' was
excellent. The only time I encountered a problem was when all the DCU
branches decided to take a holiday and close down even though Digital
was open for business. I found out late in the afternoon and had to
drive to PKO5. I can't remember which holiday this was, (I think
    around Thanksgiving or Christmas).

In addition to being open during the lunch hour it would be
beneficial to the membership if the DCU employees followed the same
Holiday schedule that Digital does. Unless they receive more holidays
then Digital employees do, in which case this would not be possible.

re: .10

Given that DCU is a Federal credit union, they may be required to give their
employees the federal holidays.

re: DCU open during lunch hours.

Even though I can't benefit from the change, I'd like to thank the BoD and any
DCU management that were involved, for this member-satisfaction oriented change.

571.12Oh, it got noticed, all rightA1VAX::BARTHShun the frumious BandersnatchThu Jun 18 1992 11:128
I noticed. I commented on it Monday (first day of it at ZKO) and got
to hear from the tellers how "nobody came." It sounded like good-natured
grousing to me.

I'm sure, as people absorb the info, there'll be more and more traffic
at lunchtime. I appreciate the flexibility. Thanks, folks.

The following has been sent to the site-wide TTB distribution list. I
have forwarded it to WMO and GSF for distribution also. Please feel
free to extract this reply and forward it to the local Personnel rep
for distribution site-wide at locations near the ZKO, WMO and NIO
DCU branches. This should help make DCU members more aware of the new
DCU branch hours at these locations.

    Thanks,
    Phil

P.S. Please delete this part before distribution.

Could you please forward this to the site-wide distribution list?
What the posting really means is that as of June 15th, these
DCU branches will no longer close for an hour during lunch.

	Thanks,

DCU at LKG is still closed at lunch. But if your lunch is planned correctly,
you can still transact business. It closes from 12:45 to 1:45. Still, I have
gone there during that time only to find (obviously) it was closed.

They're open on Presidents' Day and Columbus Day, both of which are federal
holidays.

It is amazing what a title will do! In the past your request would
be been turned down in a second... It really is ashamed, that DEC
was/is so stuck on passing only the 'correct' information from DCU
rather than the 'correct' information about DCU.

I noticed it right away! Used it June 15 and a couple days later!
It is great! The lines were short and usable at the time, but
more importantly fit my schedule.

I thought they did? I've often remarked on the way to work on a US (non-DEC)
holiday when the commercial banks were closed that I was glad I'd be able to
get to DCU knowing they'd be open, and sure enough, they were.

re: open at lunch at ZKO

Sorry - didn't notice, as I've changed my schedule to drop by early mornings
or late afternoons since moving to GSF.

But thanks anyway!

Any idea when it will be possible to have the DCU open
during lunch hour here in Shrewsbury?

This would involve having tellers stagger their lunch hour.
Something that has been done at other DCU locations from day one.

    Re .19
The DCU folks are not Digital Employees' so they have there own
Holiday schedule. If they can decide to close during the noon hour
(unlike a bank), they certainly can decide to close for a Holiday
that DEC does not observe. This happened in MRO about a year ago.

Is there a policy or guidelines the branches are supposed to follow
or does each branch make up their own rules?

The SHR branch will be undergoing some major changes in the very
near future to accomodate the large DCU membership at that site.
It is my understanding that lunch time closings will be eliminated at
that time at the SHR branch.

The modifications to the branch have been finished for a long time. And
while the branch is still closed during lunch, the addition of a 3rd window
and teller has increased the level of service dramatically! I was just down
there and overheard some other members commenting on the improved service.

Thank you DCU and the Board members!
