| There are a few ways to do it ... like some, vote with your feet and
take your money to another institution... or, you can vote at the coming
election for people that best represent your ideas/ideals of how an
employee Credit Union should be run ... or, you can find a way to get
actively involved to change the process by either being an activist of
your ideas and communicate them to those in positions of authority - or
get yourself in a position of authority to make some changes yourself.
For right now, that is all I can think of ... but I agree that we
should start to highlight the "E" in dEfcu in ALL of our
communications. That might sound like a simplistic answer, but it is a
start.

RE: .0
Only one effective way I know of, get involved. Each person needs to
determine just how much involvement suits them, but every little bit
counts. Some are running for the Board to do exactly what you say.
Others are devoting time, energy and money. Even talking about DCU to
your co-workers concerning the DCU situation is a tremendous help.
And most definitely VOTE! (and don't forget to sign the ballot).

| On the topic of grammar:
I have been a member of DCU almost from the beginning. I still have some
of my old statements. Early on in the life of this credit union, it had
its name printed as:
DIGITAL EMPLOYEES' FEDERAL CREDIT UNION
Now the name appears as:
DIGITAL EMPLOYEES FEDERAL CREDIT UNION
Do you see the subtle but symbolically huge difference? The apostrophe,
signifying a possessive term, was removed somewhere along the way. In
other words, this credit union is no longer the possession of Digital
Employees. Now the term 'Digital Employees' is merely a modifier to the
rest of the title. It is as if we belong to the credit union now,
instead of the credit union belonging to us.
An apostrophe here or there is no big deal. The problem is that someone
had to have made a conscious decision to make this change. Someone had
to say that an indication that the credit union is the possession of
Digital Employees is no longer appropriate.
Harumph.

Now there is a nit that simply isn't worth picking. If you want to
deal with the missing apostrophe in a substantive way, take it to the
JOKUR::GRAMMAR conference and discuss it. You will find that it is
normal for apostrophes to disappear, and trying to read some ulterior
motive or nefarious attitude into it is totally ridiculous.
For example, I live in Colorado Springs, and the name of the
nearby mountain is
Pikes Peak
It is not
Pike's Peak
in spite of "Pike" being the person it was named after.
Maybe I missed a smiley face in the .-1 note. I hope so.

I think you must miss a lot of smiley faces.
