I never heard of this before. The deactivation should also include a
notice to the member. If the member responds that they stil want it,
it should be left activated. Some people probably only use this
capability on an emergency basis.
This might not be considered a very good feature depending upon the
urgency and alternative cash sources, which in some cases may be
"none". I hope they don't do this with other things.

| No notice - I had no idea they'd done this until it didn't work. Yes, I pretty
much agree with the idea of deactivating inactive cards, but a letter or
phone call would have been nice. Fortunately, I also carry a Baybanks card.

466.3 | Notice after the fact is not helpful! | BTOVT::EDSON_D | that was this...then is now | Tue Feb 18 1992 17:26 | 12 |
| I ran into this a couple of months ago. I was out of town and needed
some cash. Took out my card and presto, no go. I went to the DCU
office a few days later assuming that the magnetic strip was damaged
and I asked for a new card. That's when I was told that my card
was deactivated due to inactivity.
Glad I really didn't need the money at the time!!!
This reminds me, I need to find out the status on the new card that
they were going to send me!
