452.0. "Question on DCU POSTINGs" by NOVA::WASSERMAN (Deb Wasserman, DTN 264-1863) Wed Feb 05 1992 15:35

I've read all the 74 replies in note 2, and was going to add this one,
but it has been set nowrite. Moderators, please move it if appropriate.

Anyway, I recently discovered this notesfile, and find it quite
informative. However, in my random perusing of the file, I
occasionally come across basenotes entitled "DCU POSTING: x",
containing notification of policy changes, etc., or other important
information that I would have expected to received directly from DCU in
the form of a newsletter, flyer included in my statement, etc. I find
it disconcerting that this file seems to be the only channel of
    communication for certain information.

    Can someone address this concern?

    RE: .0

DCU replies in here tended to be aimed at specific questions or
problems that somebody posted. Usually an answer stating some DCU
    policy that isn't in print.

Lately they seem to be going more towards the announcement format. I
don't think anything in here hasn't been or won't be issued to the general
membership. Do you think DCU should send it out to everybody first and
    then post in here?

452.2DCU should send this via US mailNOVA::WASSERMANDeb Wasserman, DTN 264-1863Wed Feb 05 1992 16:1753
I am referring to notes such as these. This is important information,
and I think it should be U.S.-mailed to everybody with a DCU account,
not simply posted in an unofficial channel such as a notesfile, which
    is very easily missed.

Subject: subordination agreement

                   DIGITAL EMPLOYEE'S FEDERAL CREDIT UNION
                  Mortgage Update - Subordination Agreement

If a member is refinancing their first mortgage with another
financial institution and they have a Home Equity loan with
DCU they would like to keep open, the member must request a
        Subordination Agreement from DCU.

A Subordination Agreement is a written agreement that allows a
new first mortgage to become the priority lien on the property
while leaving DCU as the second lien on the property.

DCU will process Subordination Agreements for members within
two weeks of request. To expedite processing, members must
obtain the following documents from the lender and supply them
to DCU: 1) Complete copy of the appraisal report including
photos; 2) Copy of the Fannie Mae transmittal summary; 3)
The name, address and telephone number of the appraiser.

If you have any questions about Subordination Agreements or
DCU's Mortgage program, please call the Mortgage department at
        DTN/223-6735 or 508/493-6735, ext. 316.

Deb, I believe that this announcement will be sent to all members. I
seem to remember getting such announcements in the past. I thing that
posting such announcements here is in addition to rather than as a
	replacement for mailings.

The notice about the annual meeting will be mailed. It has to be. I think the
other postings will be in a Network insert in the next statement. DCU
is definitely aware that all 88,000 members don't read the notesfile

452.5Thanks for the replyNOVA::WASSERMANDeb Wasserman, DTN 264-1863Wed Feb 05 1992 16:403
Good, that makes me feel better. I was worried that if I didn't happen
to stumble across these notes, I'd miss finding out something I needed
    to know.
452.6It is an additional channelSTAR::PARKETrue Engineers Combat ObfuscationWed Feb 05 1992 16:4111
BUT these posting do provide more rapid access to the information than
being required to wait until the next Network publication.

Use of this channel does provide additional, and hopefully freer
information flow to the members. It does get out from the notesfile.

DCU is starting to realize the value of this form of communication.
They have just recently started posting the announcements you referred
to. I'm sure they will also go out in the mail. There are over 20,000
non-DEC people who belong to the DCU. They have probably posted this
information in VTX LiveWire too, but I haven't checked it recently.

Personally, I welcome this new form of additional communication.
