    I have noticed the increase in the number and author diversity of
    noters in this conference. I was wondering if it would be appropriate
    to offer to post a VMS (DCL) command file for reading the new entries.
    I suspect that as we get closer to 12-NOV-1991, the reading volume will
    increase and such an extraction method might allow BEIRUT::DCU survive
    its "sudden" "popularity".

    This command file extracts new topics and replies, packages them in a
    nice mail message and mails them (via MAIL, not A1) to whomever you
    designate. Its major advantage is that it (ONLY) runs as a batch job.
    This minimizes resource impact to each noter's host node, allows noters
    to do their work while notes are being extracted and, when sumbitted to
    run at night, allows the reading load on BEIRUT:: to be spread out.

    one reply to this base note. Also, I will post a second reply to
    illustrate an example of how to invoke the command file.
