261.1 | DCU in Texas? Dream on | SCAACT::AINSLEY | Less than 150 kts. is TOO slow | Wed Aug 14 1991 10:15 | 8 |

There is NO DCU branch in Texas. The closest one is in New Mexico. You must
deal with them by mail or easytouch. BTW, if you have a checking account with
the DCU in New Mexico, you may have trouble using the checks as they will be
considered out-of-state checks.

| I was in Austin as an MCC assignee for a couple of years. I kept my
DCU account and used it for my main banking. I opened another account
in a local bank so that I could cash and deposit checks. By keeping
money in the local account, I could even "cash" checks at local ATMs
without paying any user fee (deposit check with casback option to local
account). It worked out pretty well. There were very few instances
where a local establishment would not accept a DCU check once my local
address was printed on it.
You won't be able to use DCU for mortgages, though. DCU won't write a
mortgage for any Texas property (at least they wouldn't 2 years ago).

| I now have my local (New Jersey) address printed on my DCU checks and
had my address in Georgia on them before.
No one ever made a comment about 'out-of-state' banks. In this age of
banking deregulation, you could cash a check on the "East Bank of the
Mississippee" and if it had your name and address on it, no one would
notice.
