242.0. "Non-members cashing Digital checks at DCU" by RUTLND::MCMAHON (If we can't fix it, it isn't broken) Tue Apr 09 1991 12:48

Recently, Employee Disbursements (aka Petty Cash) in APO has gone to a
'no-cash' policy. Instead of receiving cash for such things as mileage
reimbursement, you can get either traveler's checks or a Digital check.
Since I am a member of the DCU already, I take these checks to our DCU
office and they cash them. I asked the teller about people who are not
members but wish to cash these checks at the DCU and she said they had
to be members. Is this the normal policy and does DCU plan on making
    exceptions for these Digital checks?

DCU has no special obligation to cash checks for non-members, even for
Digital's reimbursement checks. DCU membership costs nothing (beyond
keeping the minimum account balance), so those who want the convenience
of cashing checks at a DCU branch should consider joining (and helping
to pay the staff & overhead of that office).
242.2I know, I was just wondering...RUTLND::MCMAHONCode so clean you can eat off it!Thu Apr 11 1991 17:159
I realize that DCU has no special obligation to non-members. I also
realize that DCU is completely separate from Digital. I was just posing
the question to see if anyone from Digital (completely separate from
DCU) had approached DCU about this or vice versa since this seems to be
the direction the corporation (Digital, completely separate from DCU)
is taking. As a DCU member (not separate from either Digital or the
DCU), I welcome any and all non-DCU-but-Digital-employees to join.
