227.0. "Good Job On Mortgage" by BOSTON::MCCARTHYG () Tue Oct 23 1990 09:18

Just had a very good experience with the DCU, as someone mentioned in
an earlier note you hear more often about the bad ones.

I recently closed on a house and had outstanding service all the way
through the process from the DCU. I had read the notes in this
conference and one other and was a bit skeptical at first. I checked
out rates at 5 banks and mortgage companies and the DCU was very
    competetive.

This was my second house and the process was easier than the first one
through a private mortgage company, I would recommend the DCU as a
viable option for mortgage shoppers. Any company will ask you for tons
of information for a mortgage, DCU was pretty good about asking for it
    well ahead of time.

Special thanks to Soley Quezada, Patrice Boissonneault, Barbara and
Charion in the mortgage dept. all were very helpful and extremely
pleasant any time I talked with them.

    Thanks for a good job.

I have also had a very good experience getting a mortgage through DCU.
I felt they went out of their way to ensure a speedy closing despite
    a few seller induced delays.

I have to admit, that one of the more pleasant experiences with DCU was
arranging for refinancing my house. Their rate was very competitive
(given the difference in points) and the people were pleasant to work
with. In addition, they made an effort to arrange for the closing to
be held at a DCU branch closer to my home but substantially further
away from DCU HQ than normal (Westminster branch) so the travel for the
attorneys was further. They also did some work to allow me to keep my
second mortgage in force without having to start all over again.

Again, this was a good experience.

I closed this week on a refinance through DCU. It took 6 weeks from application
to close (and DCU was fully prepared 2 weeks early, but I wasn't) and this
was exactly the amount of time they had forecast.

One thing that really impressed me is that DCU waived the property tax escrow
for us. Their policy is that you need 30% equity in order to qualify for a
property tax escrow waiver. We only had 27% equity, but they waived it for
us anyway after we submitted a written request.

I'd do it again. And if the no-point, no-closing-cost rate keeps plummeting,
I may get my change :-)
