| Just today I had occasion to call DCU's customer service department with
a problem I am having...
You see, a few years ago, I took out a home_equity_line_of_credit with DCU
to replace the one I had with Bank of New England (you want to talk about
Mickey Mouse operations!? Got an hour or two?).
Now I am in the process of relocating with DEC, and the relocation company
"bought" my house from me on May 3rd, although we won't vacate until 5/31.
Out of my equity, they pulled enough interest to pay my 1st mortgage and
the DCU 2nd until 5/31. THEY are responsible for paying the bills, but
the accounts are still in MY name.
All well enough, except they forgot to notify DCU that they are paying off
the note, and they forgot to pay the balance from April... so, when I
started getting dunning notices from DCU, I traced the problem back to the
relo company, whose attitude was "Don't worry; be happy" --- it wasn't their
perfect credit rating at risk, just mine. :7(
I have to tell you that Robin Daigle from DCU called me back, unsolicited,
and offered to call the relocation outfit --- which she did --- and they
gave her excuses --- which she pushed back on --- and they are now fedexing
a check straight to DCU to straighten out the mess.
I couldn't be more satisfied with their service and with Robin having taken
it upon herself to solve my problem. I'm sorry to hear about your problem,
but I couldn't keep silent about this real-life case that happened today.

| I've bashed DCU in some notes and I've defended them in others...
I recently applied for a DCU credit card. The credit check DCU did
came up with some interesting stuff. For example, one of my wife's
relatives forged her signature as a co-signer on a loan and then
defaulted on the loan. Well, rather than just sending us a rejection
letter, someone from DCU called me to find out what the story was.
The end result is that we will be getting our gold card soon and will
trash our other gold card. They may be few and far between, but some
people in DCU seem to believe in "Do the right thing".

re: .1 See Gary, I told you I would give DCU credit when it's due.
