199.0. "Request for additional ATM features (balances)" by SMAUG::GARROD (An Englishman's mind works best when it is almost too late) Sat Oct 28 1989 17:17

    This is a request for comment from the DCU representative that reads
    these notes:

    I find the way the ATM machine works to be really cumbersome. Baybanks
    have a much better user interface. There is no simple way to get
    an output that has the balances for ALL accounts on one piece of
    paper. You have to enter n separate transactions and get n separate
    pieces of paper. Also I don't believe there is a way to get screen
    output of your balances. Also with the Baybanks machine you can
    ask for a simple transaction like withdrawing $100 and it will give
    you ONE piece of paper that includes the $100 transaction plus a
    print out of all account balances. In summary I would like to request
    the following 3 ATM features:

    	1, The ability get get ALL account balances with ONE transaction.
    	2, The ability to get a screen display of account balances.
    	3, The ability to get 1 piece of paper that lists all transactions
    	   enacted plus all account balances.

    Thanks for your attention,

    Dave

199.1Don't kill trees!GRAMPS::FORTIERMon Oct 30 1989 08:1611

       I agree with -.1! The software that DCU is using to drive their
    ATM's is out-dated. If Baybanks can either develop or purchase better
    software with better features, including the account update feature,
    why can't our DCU get a better software system?
       The cost savings alone on decreasing the paper output of the ATM's
    would eventually justify the new software purchase.

199.2ATM reporting suggestion.CSC32::J_OPPELTSave time -- see it my way.Thu Oct 04 1990 14:3218
    	I made this suggestion over the phone to DCU about 2 months
    	ago. The voice on the other end thought it was a good idea
    	too. Now I'm documenting it in this notesfile. Maybe I'll
    	get a Mary Madden response...

    	When I make a CRT payment, the payment is first applied to
    	accrued interest, and the remainder to principal. When I make
    	the payment at a teller window, my receipt breaks out the
    	interest portion from the principal. When I make the payment
    	at an ATM, I am just given a new principal balance. Unless I
    	made a balance inquiry before making the payment, I have no way
    	to break out the interest portion.

    	I would like to see the ATM software upgraded to be able to
    	show me the amount of payment that went to interest -- just like
    	the teller window software does.

199.3Whats new?STAR::BUDAPutsing along...Thu Oct 04 1990 18:519
    The receipts used to have the next due date, also printed out. I have
    filled out forms, at DCU, complaining about this and have never
    received ANY response or explanation. I even called up DCU central and
    asked.  No one knew why.

    They USED to print it out, but no longer do so. Was very handy in
    knowing when you needed to pay the next payment.

199.4ATM Due Date FixedVMSZOO::BUDAPutsing along...Tue Jan 21 1992 11:216
    As an update to .-1

    The due date is now printed at the DCU ATM again!!! It is a nice and
    useful feature. Took a while, but it did change.

    	Well, it's been a couple of years. No change. It would be
    	so simple to do!

    	How do I get a suggestion to a DCU person who cares and who
    	is in a position to enact such a change?

    	While we're suggesting changes, why can't we get our account
    	balances for all accounts in one transaction rather than having
    	to request a balance individually for each part (checking,
    	savings, crt, etc.)  ?
