Although it was written poorly, I thought the intent of this hold
was to prevent the payment proceeds from increasing the available
credit line until the payment had cleared. The effective payment
date would be unaffected by this change.

186.2 | No additional interest accrues | HDLITE::HORTON | Ken Horton, KA1GFN | Tue Jul 18 1989 13:50 | 8 |
| I recently made payment to my CRT account with a check that was over $100.
The teller stated that there would be a hold on it. I asked about the interest
and was told that the effective payment date was the date on which I made the
payment and that there would be no additional interest accrued on that amount.
As the previous reply stated, it just means you can't spend it again for a
few days.

186.3 | Is over $5000 correct? | HDLITE::HORTON | Ken Horton, KA1GFN | Tue Jul 18 1989 13:55 | 5 |
| After wiriting the last reply I noticed that you had the hold for checks in
excess of $5000. The check that I had deposited was only a little over $100
and there was a hold placed on it.
Actually $5000 is your typical VISA limit anyways!!

186.4 | hold that hold | REGENT::MERRILL | I fought the lawn and the lawn won. | Fri Jul 21 1989 20:33 | 5 |
| The hold for over $100 is like 5 days; the hold for over $5000 is
TWO WEEKS! Oh, well, all's well that end's well: they send me the
"hold notice" in the mail and the fine print says that if you did
NOT get this at the time of the posit then they would waive any
charges for bumped checks,etc. ...
