| Please don't blame the transmission failure on the DCU until you are sure.
The bank branch that you made the transaction from in Denver is probably
the culprit in the situtation. From the error you described it sounds as
if the DCU did what it was requested to do. It sent money to the Denver
bank when it was requested to. The DCU has no way of *directly* finding
out if you recieved the money. The DCU has to wait for the Denver bank to
investigate.
Remember when using a non-DCU ATM machine you are not talking directly to
the DCU but through another bank. It makes a difference. Always save your
reciepts until you get a statement.

| Perhaps I was blaming DCU prematurely.
However, I bet even if I had saved the receipt I bet I'd still be out the $
while they resolved the situation.
I usually only save the real transaction receipts, now I guess I better save
them all.
Somebody is to blame though - either the Denver bank or Cirrus or DCU
for having faulty hardware or software that assumes the gave me $ that
I never got. I also can't believe it takes a week to resolve.
Assuming they find the proof that I never got the money, I've been
without the use of my $ for the last few weeks and at least another week
while they have had no penalties assessed.
We'll see...

These "no transactions" have happened to me many times before, but
in my case DCU has always caught it (sort of).
What bothered me, though, was that they corrected it by listing
on my statement a deposit equal to the "bad" withdrawl, but didn't
account for the $1 fee.
For example, my statement would read:
Date ATM withdrawl Some Cirrus - $40 <------+
Date ATM transaction fee - $1 <----+ |
Date ATM deposit Some Cirrus + $40 <--+ | |
| | |
| | |
imaginary deposit that never happened ---+ | |
fee for bad transacaction -----+ |
didn't get the money from the ATM -------+
So I always had to call up DCU to get my $1 back (I'm greedy).

| Most Cirrus ATM's have a hotline phone. If you don't get the cash
and the receipt says you did, use this hotline. It could be an internal
problem with the ATM itself.

There was a sign on this ATM that said if you have a problem call your
bank (DCU). I didn't know any DCU #s besides the one for EasyTouch and
it was after business hours in MA. I also didn't think it was a problem.
There is an 800 # for Cirrus on the ATM card jacket; but, it is
an automated system to find the nearest ATM.

In my case, the receipt acknowledged that I didn't get the $
and to please try again later.

P.S. I've had a similar problem to .3. At that time it did correct itself as
the woman from DCU said it should do; but, as .3 I was still charged $1.

I got hit for a double withdrawal, then a deposit of half the amount
back, at a Cirrus machine, and a $2.- charge, which when I complained
to DCU about, was refunded. Only happened once. I've always saved
every reciept, and compared to the statements carefully.

I did that last summer (trying to use a Cirrus ATM in the
middle of Stapleton Airport) with my BayBanks card and got
the same results. I never went over my bank statement to see
if I was charged (debited) for the "withdrawal". Perhaps I
will.

| My husband had the same problem, only it was in MA and not in CO.
We finally got the money back for the withdrawal but we are still
waiting for the $1.00 fee to be credited.

| Well, it's time to write the final chapter in this story.
I must say, I was pleased with the resolution.
Although it took a week and a half (I still can't believe it took that long
but I believe DCU when they say it wasn't their fault), I finally got back my
$120 (which I had supposedly withdrawn), my $1 transaction fee, and my $12
bounced check fee.
I was concerned that my credit with my automobile insurance company had been
damaged; but, the DCU administrator assured me that a) DCU had tried to clear
my check again before returning it to the payee (and it cleared the second
time) - so the payee shouldn't even know it bounced; and b) if the payee did
know it bounced, that DCU would be happy to talk to the payee by phone and
assure them that the bounced check wasn't my fault.
I'm glad I was able to resolve this without the proof of the ATM withdrawal
slip; but, next time I'll keep it.

Occasionally, when a member uses a network ATM machine,
there is a malfunction and the member doesn't receive
their requested withdrawal. However, the completed
transaction is immediately sent to DCU to debit the
member's account.
If a member doesn't receive his/her withdrawal, she/he
should save their withdrawal receipt and call the
financial institution, where the transaction occurred, as
soon as possible. Once the network institution locates
the discrepancy, they'll contact DCU to credit the
member's account which includes the $1.00 transaction
fee. This can take 1 to 2 weeks, depending on the
network institution's audit procedures.

can I get cash. The problems I'm running into are virtually no Cirrus
machines anywhere and the machines they use down here use a different
card format. (ie the machine won't even accept the card). Then the
other day I tried using it one of the few banks(Riggs) and it said
my account # was incorrect. Even though it ran thru the entire process
short of giving me my cash. DCU is a good idea but as far as getting
my hands on my money when I need to thats a different story.
Is DCU planning to get into the MOST network ???????????????

Assuming you have the newer DCU card (one that mentions CIRRUS on it),
you have a legitimate gripe with DCU if a CIRRUS machine won't honor it
and it hasn't been rendered unreadable by some mishap.

I assume 'MOST' is a regional system in the D.C. area. There are, at
present, only two ATM networks operating coast-to-coast though neither
of them is well-represented everywhere.
The PLUS System is dominant in some parts of the country, and DCU was
formerly affiliated with it through the now-defunct MONEC system that
operated in New England. PLUS is no longer present in the GMA.
With MONEC's demise (largely at the hands of the CIRRUS-afilliated
XPress-24 system in greater Boston), DCU was effectively cut off.
CIRRUS has won the war in this part of the country.

| Call 1-800-4CIRRUS and they will ask for your area code and phone number at
your location and tell you the address of the nearest couple of ATMs.
