135.0. "Credit Reporting" by VLNVAX::RWHEELER (Laughing with the sinners) Wed Oct 26 1988 15:05

I was told that the DCU does not report loans to
the national credit bureaus. Is this true????? How do we
get the DCU to start reporting?

Who wants them to?! (semi :-) If you want to use the DCU
as a credit reference then list them specifically.

I know I can manually have them added.. The only
problem is that some credit bureaus , TRW of natick or framingham,
	adds line simular to

	digital credit union/maynard mass/badge number.

Thats it. No what type(s) of credit/etc..

Some new info on DCU credit reporting and a request for more.

I have two auto loans from DCU that were completely paid off.
I just sent for my credit report from TRW and DCU doesn't report
their loans to the credit bureaus, so they are not on there. I do
    know however, that it
is Federal law as part of the credit bill of rights that you can
have any good credit added to your file. But I'm not sure of the
procedure. I just went to DCU and they talked to headquarters about
this. They said DCU is setting up the procecure now to report to
the credit bureaus and it should be running in a couple of months.
Since I don't have a specific loan I'm applying for now, I just
want this good credit history added to my permanent record, I guess
I'll just wait a couple months and have it added. But does anyone
out there know how to go about having it manually added to your
    record???

Write a letter to the credit bureau, indicating the loans and saying you want
it added to your profile as a matter of record. Add a photocopy of the paid
receipt and indicate in the letter that the lender does not report this kind of
info.

"Good" info such as this stays on your report forever.

BTW, you may need to do this three times, once for TRW, Equifax, and ??? (I
forget the last company's name.)

        TransUnion is the third source.

Just an observation. If DCU does not report a credit transaction then
they have no business requesting your credit history when you apply for
    a loan.
