| I got a HEAT loan through DCU primarily for the convenience. I didn't shop
around for fastest turnaround time. DCU took a few days (maybe a week?) from
application to crediting my account.

117.2 | HEAT loan from DCU | VLAB::BHAT | | Thu Jun 29 1989 09:40 | 12 |

I too have a HEAT loan from DCU. I had applied at the DCU branch
in Marlboro (MR01). It was approved within a couple of days, and
the application was handled very efficiently.
Since it was an interest free loan, and the approval was to take
only a few days, I didn't find a need to shop around at that
time.

117.3 | HEAT?!?!? | COOKIE::WITHERS | Short-Term Profits is an Oxymoron | Thu Jun 29 1989 12:14 | 10 |
| Forgive an ignorant question, but is a "HEAT" loan for the purpose of some sort
of heating installation (as implied by .0) or is it an acronym I've never heard
of?
Also, if its for the purpose of upgrading heating facilities (in which case,
why all-caps?) does anybody know if it applies to wood-burning stoves?
Thanks,
BobW

| Is this for heating fuel costs or the heating system? I am looking
at installing a heating system and am quite interested.

117.5 | For Massachusetts residents only | NOTIME::SACKS | Gerald Sacks ZKO2-3/N30 DTN:381-2085 | Fri Jun 30 1989 16:49 | 10 |
| HEAT loans are available to Massachusetts residents to improve their home's
energy efficiency. We used ours to put in a new boiler and add insulation
and weatherstripping. The interest is paid to the lender from money
that Massachusetts got from a settlement with one or more oil companies
who had overcharged consumers. For details see HOME_WORK note 2205, or
ask your utility.
We had a couple of minor problems with DCU handling this, mostly because
they'd never done it before at ZKO, but it was worth it because of the
convenience.
