113.0. "ATM $1.00 FEE REFUND - ANY GIVEN ?" by CGVAX2::FOREMAN (There ain't no rhyme for oranges) Thu Jul 21 1988 11:26

    Recent ATM experience :

I went to the ATM in our building at 8:00 AM to find the screen
displaying - PLEASE WAIT WHILE YOUR TRANSACTION IS BEING
                 PROCESSED.

Obviously it was jammed. I made a call to the DCU office
number listed on the ATM at 10:30 AM to question the
problem. The person who I spoke with said that someone
was down fixing it at the very moment and if it wasn't fixed
    already it would be shortly.

I waited until after lunch (12:30 PM) to try it again. Again I
see the screen displaying - PLEASE WAIT WHILE YOUR TRANSACTION IS
                                BEING PROCESSED.
I knocked on the access door to the machine and there was no answer
so obviously no-one was working on it at that time.

When I got back to my desk I called the DCU office again. This
time the person I spoke with said that the machine has been down
    for a couple of days ( I don't know - I hadn't tried it ) and
that is was a problem that the "Corporate Office" had to fix and
was working. I asked if she had any idea if it would be fixed
today, or if I should go elsewhere for my transactions. She
suggested I go elsewhere as she didn't know.

While I am a little miffed that the machine was down, I understand
that these things do happen. What really got my goat was the
fact that I couldn't get a consistent answer when calling on the
problem. Also, due to the fact it was down, I had to go to
a CIRRUS machine which will charge me $1.00 for a transaction that
would have been free on our DCU machine.

Has anyone had any luck getting the DCU to refund your $1.00 charge
for similar situations ??? Who should I contact to request a
    refund ?

Re; .0

All I can say is good luck.....maybe start with your local DCU
office to get phones numbers from. The people at my local office
(LKG) are very friendly and helpful when they can be.

I've had random $1.00 charges sho up on my statement (3 times now).
The number given to me to call has never returned any of my calls.
In short, I've eaten the $3.

Baybanks here I come!

I had a questionable $1.00 charge show up on my statment
once. The tellers at the SPO branch were very helpful.
I found out that I was charge for seeking a balance that
wasn't allowed at that ATM, which was true.

So that is one costly mistake that won't happen again.
