87.1 | Will probably get several $1.00 charges | EXIT26::STRATTON | Ballad of a thin man | Thu Jan 28 1988 09:36 | 10 |
| If you went through the "insert card, type password" routine
three times, I'm almost positive the DCU will charge you
$3.00. However, if you call and explain (after you get
a statement with three one-dollar charges on it), they'll
probably reverse two of them without any problem.
Can't help with the other questions.

87.2 | Maybe only 1 charge | MEMV03::SHELTRY | Wayne - MEM Finance IS - Acton | Thu Jan 28 1988 12:09 | 11 |
| I'm not so sure you'll be charged 3 times. The "Fast Cash" option
at BayBanks (and other banks for that matter) does not apply to
our DCU cards. When I tried it for the first time on a machine
under the Yankee 24 network, I got a message saying that the option
was not available for my card. If you do not complete the transaction,
the should be no charge. My $1.00 charge for the date that I tried
the Fast Cash option showed up on my statement but not the charge
for the aborted attempt.

87.3 | A similar problem | AESIR::SWONGER | What, me worry? | Thu Jan 28 1988 15:16 | 12 |

I had a similar problem with a Nashua Federal Trust ATM. I
tried twice to withdraw $50.00, but it came back with "Your
bank is not currently reachable", or some such. I thought
nothing of it until I saw the two withdrawals on my
statement. I just called DCU and they straightened it out -
which was lucky for me because I didn't keep my receipts.
So, KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS and keep an eye on your balance, and
if there's anything wrong have DCU look into it.

| I just got the word from DCU... there were no erroneous charges or
withdrawls... I've got it in hardcopy...
Maybe Cirrus will some day be the DECnet of the ATM world, providing a common
applications layer and standard software that'll run on it independent of
machine type...

| The "Fast Cash" option is designed to increase the fee income to
BayBanks. They charge the participating institution a higher fee
if there is both a cash withdrawal and a balance inquiry.
Even when one selects "Withdrawal" from the top menu, after the
cash is dispensed, the first menu choice is "Receipt and Balances,"
the second choice is "Receipt." It's almost reminiscent of the practice
United and American Airlines did with their travel agent reservation
systems.

87.6 | Fast Cash is a Checking Withdrawl | ULTRA::KINDEL | Bill Kindel @ LTN2 | Mon Feb 08 1988 15:11 | 4 |
| The BayBanks X-Press 24 "Fast Cash and Balances" function is intended
to work against the checking half of a BayBank savings/checking
account. If BayBank figures that CIRRUS withdrawls are *savings*
withdrawls, then this function would not apply.

87.7 | I was shortchanged | IAMOK::DEVIVO | Paul DeVivo @VRO, DTN 273-5166 | Tue Jul 05 1988 14:24 | 15 |
| I had a different experience, but one which fits under the title
ofthis note.
In February, I used my DCU card to withdraw $200 from a BayBanks
ATM. What I received was $180; the receipt said $200 was delivered.
The procedure I was directed to was claim the loss through DCU.
DCU has no formal process; you tell the office what happened, and
they process a claim. They wouldn't even confirm that I had a claim
in process.
Well, I assumed I'd never hear about my lost $20 ever again. When
I tried to balance my May statement, I was off by $20. Closer
examination revealed a $20 correction. The lost $20 was restored
to my account!
