I recently decided to move dtstyle from its default location on the
front panel to another subpanel. The plan was to remove it, and then
drag it from the Applications window to its new location.
I replaced it on the Main Panel with another application, then popped
up the subpanel and with MB3, selected delete. Normally at this point
a "Workspace Manager - Delete Control" window is displayed and when
OK is pressed, the remove is completed.
However, this time something went wrong. The subpanel "greyed out",
displaying only the background colour, plus the "Delete Control"
confirmation window did the same.
From this point on, the whole screen froze. The mouse would move, but
nothing responsed to any form or mouse or keyboard input. I logged
in from elsewhere and discovered that dtwm was looping in a run state
and was consuming 99% of all CPU time. Killing dtwm and restarting
it manually got me out of the situation.
I first experienced this on a new (2 days old) alphastation running
V4.0B, and then went on to reproduce the problem exactly on another
AlphaStation running V4.0 (with the full February 97 patch kit).
This should be 100% reproducable.
Lastly (and just for you Chris ;-) I've raised a QAR, case-id: 52735.

This is a duplicate of QAR 44188, it's already fixed for Steel.
