Hello, Cusotmer displays onto a VXT or non-cde non-digital machine and the error : userFont or fallback font cannot be proportional. Switchin to default fixed font. This dialog occurs even if the Fontserver is running on the digital box with a catalogue of the default CDE fontpath gleaned from an xset on a working machine (the console). Why does this error occur when the fontserver is being used and all the fonts are available. Dtterm*userFontList is using proportional fonts and they are working via the font server. Best regards, Ed Haletky Digital CSC

I can't reproduce this on a VXT2000 with the fontpaths properly setup. But then, I'm working with a VXT set to use TFTP to get the fonts rather than a fontserver; try testing this as an alternative. If this works, you may have discovered a fontserver bug in X11R6.

I have this same problem. The Fontpath is set appropriately to the Console and I display to a Mac X Server. Since we are using a fontserver and TFTP does not work for the cusotmer as well perhaps you can let us in on the /correct/ fontpaths? Ed Haletky Digital CSC

For my VXT, I'm loading the following: /usr/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi /usr/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo /usr/lib/X11/fonts/Type1 /usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc /usr/lib/X11/fonts/Type1Adobe /usr/lib/X11/fonts/decwin/75dpi /usr/dt/config/xfonts/C They are loaded in that order. Here's a test you can describe and reproduce. Run xrdb to confirm what the "userFont" resource is set to, then match that against the font alias in /usr/dt/config/xfonts/C to find what it maps to, probably one of the "b&h-lucida-typewriter..." fonts based on the Style manager's size settings. Then try to use xfd to make sure that the font will display on the Xterminal. If it doesn't, then there may be a problem with the font server or its setup. If it does display, then dtterm may have a problem. |
