607.0. "Dtterm application icons are randomly corrupted." by AUBER::TISSERAND (Jean-Marc Tisserand, French CSC, 858-6801) Fri Feb 21 1997 10:38

Hi,

A customer of mine has a strange problem with icons.

He is working with Unix V4.0 and CDE.
He starts CDE sessions on Tektronics and NCD X terminals
and also on Solaris station configured as X Terminals.

Regularly, he sees that the dtterm icon is corrupted on the screen.
He can have several dtterm windows with only one or 2 corrupted for
example.
The customer never sees icons corrupted for other applications.
Only the dtterm icon is corrupted randomly.

We tried to restart the workspace manager, to use and not use the
icon box. The problem is the same.

We checked the various icons files size and checksums and they are all OK.

We copy the Dtactn icons to the $HOME/.dt/icons directory and rename
them to Fpterm. Then we restarted dtwm. Now all the dtterm icons show
the running man usually used for actions.

And now, the customer sees that this icon got corrupted randomly.

I asked the customer to set the dtterm window to another application to
see if it gets corrupted also. But I've not the result at this time.

It seems that the icon corruption is linked with the dtterm application.

Is there any known problem in this area ?

Thanks in advance for any input,
Regards,
Jean-Marc

What kind of system and what graphics card is the corrupted icon being
displayed on? Does the corruption get worse and worse over time?

No, this is the first I've ever seen reported. Unless you can
come up with a way to reproduce this, I can't think of any
	further suggestions.

The fact that only the dtterm icon is corrupted lets me think that
maybe the dtterm code does not create its icon pixmap in the same way
used for the other dt applications.

Can somebody tell me which routine is used by the dtterm to get
its icon pixmap.

Jean-Marc
