595.0. "saving the CDE session environment" by DECWET::CARRUTHERS (Life gets easier when you realize you can't have everything.) Fri Jan 31 1997 16:22

Using CDE on a DUNIX 4.0A system. My first experience with CDE.

Problem: The CDE session information such as backdrop and color
selections are not being "saved" so that after a session
exit and re-start they are the same.

I have done the following, without success:

	- start Style Manager
	- make backdrop change to current session
	- make color change to current session
	- click on startup icon (in style manager display)
	- select the "Return to Home session" button
	- Hit the Set Home Session bar, then OK
	- OK Startup display
	- Exit session
	- Re-start session

When I startup the session again, neither the new colors nor the backdrop
are used, instead the default backdrop and colors are used.

Terry,

Take a look at note 550 and the backpointers on how to debug this.
If the data exists in $HOME/.dt/sessions/home/dt.resources, then
something in your .Xdefaults file is causing 'xrdb' to gag and
terminate before loading your preferences.
