2235.0. "<VT> characters in messages" by VIVIAN::D_BONO () Thu Jun 05 1997 09:27

    Hi,

    I have a customer that is getting Vertical Tab ( <VT> ASCII 11) characters
    inserted normally after Carriage Returns when she sends mail via
    Teamlinks V2.7.

    The message is displayed correctly when typing in the create message
    window, however when the recipient reveives the mail it has these
    chartacters inserted. (Displayed as Black Boxes) Also the sent message
    in the outbox has these additional characters.

    Any ideas what maybe causing this? We have tried a new keyboard,
    different print drivers. The create message is Text, New Courier.

    Thanks,

    Dave Bono.

Please give us the exact steps the user follows
to create and send the message and what mail server
is used. What mail system is the message received on?
What font is used to create the message? What is the
operating system the user is on?

We have seen this behavior but it was caused by
including text created by edit.com in DOS.

2235.2Win 95 Mailworks V1.3A VIVIAN::D_BONOThu Jun 05 1997 11:4718

    Hello Rick,

    The customer is running Windows 95 with teamlinks V2.7-001.
    The user connects to a OpenVMS Mailworks V1.3A Alpha file cabinet.

    They are using Courier New as the Create message font and MS Sans Serif
    as their Read message Font.

    The user has sent me a message, I have an account on the same Mailworks
    server and it had these characters in it. This message was created from
    the normal create message and by typing in the text.

    Any ideas welcome.

    Thanks,

Dave

I have tried to reproduce your problem with
ALPHA Mailworks with no success. So try this,
create a message and save it too drafts.
Reaf it from drafts and view it.
Then Expand the message from drafts and
launch the cover memo only using Wordpad.
Also try this with the message in the outbox.
