What was the exact error that he got during the install? When he
deleted the XTI files on the server install and reinstalled were the
XTI files there then? Did he still receive errors?

I'm assuming this is the shared client copy? Does he have the exact
error? Does infoman even startup?

The question during the install is whether you want to update any Windows
file if Windows is shared. It does not update any files on any of the
clients during a shared network install.

| Helen,
The error message Abbott Labs is getting when starting TL 3.0 EFT2
is a dialog box with a blank title bar.
The message is
Program Error:
Your program is making an invalid dynamic link call to a dll file.
However, this customer is running TL 2.7 ECO2 and TL 3.0 EFT2 on
the same PC. He is simply renaming .ini files with a batch job
to change between versions. I did explain that the problem is
probably one of the .dll files in the WINDOWS or WINDOWS\SYSTEM
area that are not compatible between versions. After he does get
the error he had to use CRTL ALT DEL to restart the PC.
Now for the installation comment from the customer. I have not
noticed this myself but I also have not watched this closely.
He claims that during the installation of the server copy when
the files for Windows and windows\system are being copied it
gives a destination of C:. Have you ever noticed what the
drive letter says?

Running two different versions on the same machine is just not supported.
As you noted there are files installed in the windows and/or windows\system
directory and who knows how his 3.0 ini file got created.

If he did the shared install on a PC and clicked yes to the question that
said to update the windows\system files then I would imagine that it did
update the windows\system files on that PC. However, if you say no to that
question (which it sounds like he should have - you only really want to
update the windows\system files if they are being shared as well) the files
will go into the TEAMLINK\SETUP area of the shared installation.
