2169.0. "storage area for the file cabinet service may be full" by GIDDAY::BACOT () Fri May 02 1997 02:48

    TeamLinks V2.7-1 and V2.5-4
    MailWorks V1.3A
    OpenVMS V6.2

Users are having a problem dialing in using a slip connection and
Windows95. They are able to connect to their MailWorks server
and read mail but when they try to send they get the following error:

an error was encountered while creating or saving this mail message on
    the server
    error writing to the file
an error occured while writing the file
the storage area for the file cabinet service may be full
    this operation is cancelled

Although one of the users having the problem said that they can send
very small messages (one or two lines).

They don't have a problem if the are running Windows for WorkGroups
or from Windows95 if they are at work. I've asked them to try
from the VT client as well. They have been having the problem ever
since changing to Windows95 from WFW (about 3 months) so the server
has been restarted several times since then.

The only reference I could find to this error message was in V1.1
and the solution was to stop the A1MAIL$CONNECT process and restart
    it.

Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Is there an answer, or anything particular that can be checked for this
one, because I have someone with an identical problem.

2169.2wrong notes file?GIDDAY::BACOTMon May 26 1997 03:367
Is this the wrong place to be asking the question, does it really
belong in the MAILWORKS-VMS notes file? (it's *awfully* quiet there...)

    thanks,

I'll try to see if we have someone who could
    help with this.

The two suggestions I received for you are:

    1. Contact Karl Evans or Martin Cook in Reading, UK

    2. Examine the SLIP settings on both side of the connection
carefully as a network write problem could show up as a
       user space problem.

    That's all I have,
    Jerry
