2131.0. "Problem finding on format with remote MailWorks drawer" by MLNCSC::ZAGHI () Wed Apr 16 1997 07:54

Hi,

a customer of mine is facing with a "odd behaviour" in "find" teamlinks
function. That is...

1) he connects to a remote drawer ( DECmailworks server )
2) he selects a folder in the above drawer
3) he clicks on "find" option of the menu "file"
4) At this point a window appear where he can select several keys . One of
that keys is the "format" key . Any kind of format he selects , the
searching operation will fail with the following message:

format attribute not supported , continue with search in this
folder using other search criteria ?

If he click YES botton the message reappears . The only way to exit from
this situation is to click CANCEL botton.

5) All work fine if he does the same operation on a local DRAWER

I tried the same operations Here in Digital site , on TEAMLINKS ENGLISH V2.7
and TEAMLINKS ITALIAN V2.5 . I got the same odd behaviour .

Could it possible that I'm not considering any important element to explain this
odd behaviour ?
On the contrary , Could it be a bug ?

Any tip is appreciated

Many thanks in advance

Regards

2131.1Once for each folder. Local supports FormatXANADU::x400it.zko.dec.com::manana::roughtWed Apr 16 1997 09:4710
Are you sure the user is just selecting a folder or is the drawer also selected ?

The only way I can reproduce this problem is by selecting a drawer. You receive
the message once for each folder in the drawer. By selecting an individual folder,
I can not reproduce the problem.

This "problem" does not occur on the local drawer because the local drawer supports
Find using the format type.

This restriction (find on format not supported by MailWorks) is documented
in the help for the Find dialog box (in the popup text for the Format
attribute). Just fyi.
