2110.0. "Word/Excel attachments through LMS" by GIDDAY::BACOT () Mon Apr 07 1997 03:43

    We are experiencing problems with MS Word and Excel documents sent from
    CC mail to TeamLinks through Lotus Message Switch.
    When the 2.5-004 TeamLinks client tries to launch or read the Word
    attachment it cannot. Unknown format.

    If a 2.7 TeamLinks client connects to the same file cabinet and
    reads or launches the attachment everything is fine.

    The customer forwarded one of the documents to me and I was able
    to read or launch under 2.5-004 but did have problems with a
    clean 2.5 client.

    The customer could not export or convert the attachment although
    we used the vt client to file attachment and then tried to convert
    the document but it still would not recognize the document. It does
    have a Word icon next to the attachment.

    The Lotus Message Switch appears to be munging the word attachments
    in some way but they think it is a problem with TeamLinks V2.5 since
    V2.7 doesn't have a problem with it. Word documents from other
    sources are ok.

    Any ideas on why 2.7 doesn't have a problem but 2.5-04 does?

    Thanks and regards,

2110.1Maybe they should just use V2.7?XANADU::CUMMINGSJerry Cummings, TeamLinksMon Apr 07 1997 10:248
I have no idea, but just to be annoying, I'm wondering
what's kept them from upgrading completely to V2.7?

My guess would be changes and improvements in our
converter/viewer capabilities is what makes V2.7 work
but V2.5 not work. That's just a guess though. Perhaps
someone else knows?
