2105.0. "Using TLVERCHK to upgrade from 2.5 to 2.7" by CHEFS::annep.uvo.dec.com::taylora () Thu Apr 03 1997 10:53

Hi,

A customer is trying to use TLVERCHK to upgrade machines from TeamLinks 2.5
to 2.7 (ECO-1). It appears that TLVERCHK will not work unless there is a
line in the client's OFFICE.INI file setting the KitDirectory.
Unfortunately KitDirectory seems to be a setting that was introduced in
2.7, so all the 2.5 machines do not have that line in the OFFICE.INI file.
 I've tested this and can confirm that I can reproduce it.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get this working, without having to
enter that line into all the ini files - which rather defeats the point of
an automatic upgrade program?

Regards,

Anne

2105.1Are you using the V2.5 tlverchk?MANANA::FLANAGANThu Apr 03 1997 11:215
    What version of tlverchk are you using? For V2.5 you have to use the
    V2.5 version of tlverchk since that will use the prior ini file key
    name.

Peter,

Thanks for your quick response.

It is the tlverchk from 2.7 I was using. If I use the one from 2.5 will it
still work OK to upgrade to 2.7 (rather than a 2.5 eco) and not miss any
new files?

Anne

2105.3Need to use V2.5 of tlverchk to upgrade V2.5XANADU::FLANAGANMon Apr 14 1997 12:5110
    Sorry Anne,

      I was away last week and my mail to you bounced.

    The V2.5 tlverchk will work fine. It compares the current version of
    TeamLinks (listed in office.ini) with the version of the kit (listed in defaults.ini)
    at the location pointed to by office.ini. If the version pointed to is higher
    it runs the setup.exe for that kit.
