2056.1 | Very strange... | XANADU::cascobay.zko.dec.com::TAMARA::STJEAN | Bob St.Jean | Thu Mar 13 1997 19:32 | 45 |
| Ivan,
Is this a Local Language Variant of TeamLinks?
> File associations. The customer has a problem site wide, (Shared

This doesn't sound like File Associations. It sounds more like
the Set File Format dialog box that displays if an auto-detect on
Import or Attach didn't work. Can you verify that?
Also, does this problem happen on File Import? It similar code.
> The Setup icons for Formats and Associations have information as
> expected, with many different types as per office.ini and tlformat.ini.
> The Options-->Auto Format Detection is turned On and Confirmations is
> turned off.
That's good. At least something's working as expected!
>When the Dialog box appears no entry is highlighted.
This should only happen if auto-detection outright failed. That's
the only time a format isn't selected.
What does the comment tell them in the dialog? It should say
why they have to select a tag, like the auto-detect failed or it
used file extensions, etc.
> This is not only happening for files from DOS, but for files located
> within Drawers.
That's pretty strange. Files attached from a TeamLinks FC always
have a format tag, so the Set Format dialog should not be displayed
in this case.
Can you check to make sure there is only one Filecab.dll on the PC?
Very strange problem.

2056.2 | More info | KERNEL::BURDENI | | Fri Mar 14 1997 05:25 | 13 |
| I hear what you are saying, I am still not upto spead with the required
terminology for this product - apologies for making it more strange
than it already is...
There is a popup window for Set File Format, and "no" Dialog box, and
no entry in this window is highlighted. There is also only one entry
of FILECAB.DLL in the Teamlinks directory. I have asked the customer
to install the ECO4 patch on her local version of Teamlinks, even
though the network copy should be upto speed. As I cannot understand
why the local installhs the same problems.
Cheers

2056.3 | Need a log file, and answer to Import question. | XANADU::cascobay.zko.dec.com::TAMARA::STJEAN | Bob St.Jean | Tue Mar 18 1997 11:26 | 17 |
| Ivan,
The Set File Format window is a dialog box. If nothing is selected,
then most likely the auto-detect didn't work at all. The Set File
Format dialog displays to let the user manually tag the document.
You said this happens on Attach. Can you ask them if this problem
also happens on File Import?
Please have the customer setup TL to generate a log file. To do this
they have to edit OFFICE.INI and set the CfcLogOptions entry to
"LOG,FILECAB" at a mimimum. Then restart TL Infoman and reproduce
the problem. It should produce a CFCDEBUG.LOG in the \Windows
directory. Have them mail it to you and you can post it here.

2056.4 | ECO 4 fixed this | KERNEL::BURDENI | | Wed Mar 19 1997 08:44 | 6 |
| I am not sure why, but loading the ECO 4 patch onto the network service
cured the problem. Whether this just replaced a corrupt file I cannot
be sure, as this suddenly happened to a working system.
Thanks for your responses.
Ivan.
