2042.0. "GPF in CFCX400 on exit" by GIDDAY::VELD (Woodchip the healing forest ! ) Mon Mar 10 1997 23:07
Hello all,
yet another GPF problem, I'm afraid. A customer has reported that,
since upgrading to TeamLinks 2.5-004, they have been experiencing
intermittant problems when exiting TeamLinks.
The error message is ...
Application Error
X400MAIL caused a General Protection Fault
in Module CFCX400.DLL
at 000C:3350
The location of the GPF is always the same, even with different
users. There does not appear to be any discernible pattern to the
problem. It is intermittant, not reproducible at will. the customer
has checked for the existance of duplicate files, especially .DLLs,
but there have not been any occurances to date.
The customer has generated a CFCDEBUG.LOG and a DRWATSON.LOG which
are available at RIPPER::USER$TSC:[VELD.PUBLIC.N11564] ( both files are
too large to post here - the curse of intermittant failures :-) ).
It would be greatly appreciated if someone could give me some clues
as to where to go from here. For those people screaming 'Upgrade to
TeamLinks 2.7', this is a large Government department in New Zealand
who, like all Government departments, live life in different time lines
than the rest of us. So a resolution ( or pointer thereof ) that does
not involve upgrading would be preferable.
Thanks for any assistance,
Paul Veld
CSC Sydney.

2042.1 | Not what you want to hear. Fixed in V2.7 | XANADU::x400it.zko.dec.com::xanadu::ROUGHT | | Tue Mar 11 1997 08:49 | 17 |
| I know this is not the answer you want to hear, but this problem
has been fixed in V2.7.
The GPF occurs while cleaning up some structures used for DDS
searches. This may explain why it is only seen sometimes. If no
DDS searches are done, there should be no GPF.
I do not know of any work around. Any GPF certainly gives a negative
impression of our product. Other than that, this is a rather benign
error and should not cause much of an inconvenience to the user. It
occurs on exit and only requires an extra mouse click (or two) to
finish the exit.
If this is a major issue with the customer, the answer is to upgrade
to V2.7.
