2022.0. "Lotus 97 and TeamLinks 2.7?" by AIMTEC::GIANNETTI_D () Mon Mar 03 1997 11:01

Does anyone know if TeamLinks 2.7 will work with Lotus 97 and if there
is an integration for Lotus97 to TeamLinks?

Hi Debbie,

Do you mean the entire app suite, SmartSuite 97, or just the new
Lotus 1-2-3 97 app?

SmartSuite 97 pretty much works with TL 2.7. In TL 3.0 I plan to
add a few file format tags to make it work better. Lotus 1-2-3 97
is a new 32-bit app with a new native file format. The new file
type/extension seems to be 123, so they've departed from the WK3,
WK4 progression. I don't think TL can sniff or view 123 files and
I don't know if/when that support will show up. TL 2.7/3.0 can
sniff Word Pro file, but still cannot view them.

We do mail integration with SmartSuite 97 via TL's Simple MAPI
support. There are a few odd problems here and there because the
Lotus apps use their own "TeamMail" UI. For the most part it
works. It does have this odd habit of sending a separate mail
message for each recipient! Generally the TeamMail interface in
SmartSuite 97 is better than the one in SmartSuite 96. But we
don't claim to have extensively tested it with every application.
So far we've only tested the mail from Word Pro 97.

File cabinet integration is done with ODMA. Lotus has ODMA support
in only 2 applications - Word Pro 97 and Freelance 97. The ODMA
integration seems to be much better in Word Pro 97 than it was
in Word Pro 96. But there are still a few problems and I'm
working with Lotus to see when we can get a fix. Freelance's ODMA
interface is new and has some big problems, at least the version
I tested with. I don't know if I have the final/gold release.

There's a problem with 1-2-3 97 in that TL has no integration for it.
It doesn't support ODMA and Digital has not decided if we can or
should port our 16-bit 1-2-3 Release 4/5 integration to 1-2-3 97.
Most likely the existing integration will not work so we might
just wait for Lotus to do ODMA.
