TeamLinks 2.5 Windows of WorkGroup 3.11 DEC MailWorks server (VMS) Scenario: If customer receives a message with NO attachments, only a cover memo - print works fine (either from Information Manager index area or from Read Message window) If customer receives a message with 1 or more attachments and chooses to print (either from Information Manager index area or from Read Message window) - message appears that it is printing, gets to the message printing first attachment, hourglass appears and then the PC hangs - nothing prints If customer takes one of these messages with either 1 or more attachments, selects it from the index area, goes to View/Expand selected, single clicks on the attachment (or in the case of more than one clicks on one of the attachments) - chooses to print - the attachment prints fine. ANY attachment she chooses prints fine BUT if she chooses to click on the cover memo and chooses to print - the PC hangs This has just started happening (they think) since they upgraded the users printer to an HP 870 cxi color printer. I had the user log onto another user account - same problem when printing from the same PC to the HP 870 cxi color printer. I had her help desk support log into an account and go through the same scenarios of printing (this time they were using an HP 5si) and it printed fine (from the original "problem" users account or from their own account). Thinking that this printer has something to do with the problem I requested that the customer locate another user who has one of these new printers and test the same printing issues - same results. It would appear that the common denominator here is this new HP 870 cxi color printer. I asked if they know whether or not they have the latest print driver for this printer. The user support said yes they do and they tried reinstalling the print driver - same results. Since they are running TL 2.5 with no patches I made the suggestion that they patch this one users system to see if that makes a difference - but that is just a shot in the dark. Has anyone experienced this problem before? Any ideas? Debbie Giannetti

I think something similar was reported in here before, but I'm not sure that it was for that particular printer. It might have been a Lexmark color printer. I'm pretty sure the problem went away when they got updated drivers. I say drivers because this was a PostScript printer and it was actually something from Adobe, not Lexmark, that fixed the problem. I'd also try twiddling the various printer driver settings. Good luck, Jerry |
