| Helen,
They did tell me they could enter the same address in the TO:
field of the Create Message Window in TeamLinks and it works.
I will verify the service provider and the exact string being
sent via Simple MAPI.

Beth,
Well I just tried sending mail using ALL-IN-1 as my service provider
and did not put @internet at the end of the address. I got a
non-delivery that looked suspiciously like what this person received.
Tell them to try using the @internet on the address.

Beth,
Yes please have them try adding that to the address. I didn't realize
this, but I guess the addressing control can be set up to automatically
add that, so they may very well enter those addresses in the TeamLinks
window and they work. The addresses that come in through Simple MAPI
don't go through the addressing control, so for now they need to
add that to the address themselves. I will enter a QAR so that we look
into possibly doing this in Simple MAPI.
Let me know if it works if they add the @internet.

| Helen,
I received the following mail message from the user of this problem.
Do you have any further ideas?
Beth-
I have tried all the following scenarios:
"[email protected]"
"[email protected]"@internet
"[email protected]@internet"
""[email protected]""
""[email protected]""@internet
""[email protected]@internet""
All of these are immediately rejected by TeamLinks as invalid input for
the
recipient line, with an error msg stating that no recipient has been
designated. I have also tried:
([email protected])
([email protected])@internet
([email protected]@internet)
These addresses are at least sent out by the MAPI calls to TeamLinks,
but will generate a Non Delivery Notification from the TeamLinks
Postmaster.
Once again, the e-mail address we want to send to is:
[email protected]
and, we can input this address exactly like this when sending a note
manually through TeamLinks. The problem arises when using MAPI calls
from another program to try and send to this address through TeamLinks.
Please contact me as soon as you can with any further suggestions for
alleviating this problem.

This still doesn't say what their primary service provider is. Is
it ALL-IN-1? Regardless of that, have them look in the Customize
Addressing Dialog box and see what is set in the 'Qualifying Characters'
field and the 'Suffix to Add' field. That determines what happens to
such an address when it is entered in TeamLinks directly. Perhaps
'@internet' was not correct. That's just what we use here. You
get to this dialog by going to the Mail Profile dialog in Setup and
choosing Addressing. Then click on the Customize Addressing button.
If they looks at this and the suffix is not '@internet' then that's
the problem. They should substitute @internet for whatever is displayed
in the 'Suffix to Add' field. TeamLinks is obviously getting what
they are sending via the MAPISendMail call. They can verify that
by looking at the non-delivery. The problem now is just getting a
valid address to send using Simple MAPI

The service provider is ALL-IN-1 IOS. .4 gives the service provider
also. I will check the suffix.

I just got another message from the customer stating that they have
the following in office.ini
[Simple MAPI]
[email protected]
I still need to get the suffix information from customize addressing.

That's very interesting. This is totally undocumented and must be
entered into the office.ini by hand. I'm now kind of curious as
to who the customer is. I did work with one customer in particular
on this. The field they have set has nothing to do with sending
out a message. This field would be used on a MAPISaveMail call.
> I still need to get the suffix information from customize addressing.
I think this is still the key. Simple MAPI is just handing off the
address passed in. We need to be able to construct a valid address.

1953.11 | The prefix and suffix information | OASS::ANDRES_B | | Tue Feb 18 1997 11:25 | 22 |
| Helen,
The customer just sent me the suffix and prefix information.
He has applied ECO1 and there was nothing in the ECO that
helped his problem. Any additional help would be appreciated
since I don't have a clue at what I am looking at with
MAPI.
The prefix info is as follows
customized prefix and suffix is enabled
prefix to add is smtp%
suffix to add is "@mrgate
qualifying chars are @.
disqualifying chars are =)
patterns indicating a completed address is @
Thanks,
Beth

Hopefull this was just a typo. But what the customer should
try is using the prefix and suffix on the address they are
trying to send with Simple MAPI. So for the address they were
trying to use it would something like:
smtp%[email protected]@mrgate
Now there might be some quotes in there. They should go back
and take a closer look at their prefix and suffix definitions
and use exactly what they have them set to.

| There are two customers at the same site sending me information
on this issue. When the second user sent me information they sent
the following prefix and suffix information
For your info
prefix is smtp%"
suffix is "@mrgate
customized prefix/suffix is enabled
I will have him use the address with smtp%" before and "@mrgate at
the end but I think he has already tried this per our suggestion
before.
Thanks,

Beth,
Then the address should have quotes as follows:
smtp%"[email protected]"@mrgate
This wasn't one of the addresses listed in previous replies
that they tried, so hopefully this is it. There is no magic
in the Simple MAPI call. It just uses the address passed in
as is, so it must be a valid address.
