| I have NO IDEA if this will work for you, but if
I have black sole scuff marks on lineolum, I used
to use an eraser to take them out (time-consuming),
then I started using Comet abrasive cleaner. My
niece came over one day and took the black scuff
marks out by rubbing the bottom of her white Ked
sneaker soles over it (100 X easier!).
But you're probably talking about a scratch type
of scuff mark.

2274.2 | do you have added matter or missing matter? | WRKSYS::SCHUMANN | | Fri Jul 19 1996 14:58 | 12 |
| There's either a) material on top of the finish, i.e. black rubber from the shoes
or b) scratches in the finish.
If it's a) you should be able to remove this with some light scrubbing, perhaps
with a kitchen scrubber or fine polishing compound, or sand with very fine sandpaper.
You may be able to remove it with a solvent, but I wouldn't know which solvent
to use. The solvent needs to be safe for your finish.
If it's b) you may be able to buff it out with fine polishing compound or sand it out
with fine sandpaper.

2274.3 | PLASTIC scrub pads | WRKSYS::SCHUMANN | | Fri Jul 19 1996 15:03 | 8 |
| That's a PLASTIC kitchen scrubber, such as those that 3M makes.
These are great for cleaning lots of things! They can cause scratches,
so you need to be careful when you use them on glossy finishes.
Sometimes, if you use them very gently, they will scrape the mess off
the top of a glossy finish without hurting the finish itself.
