2242.0. "looking for brass running lights" by STOWOA::TMOORE () Thu Oct 12 1995 13:51

    I hope this note winds up in the right place ... I'm looking for some
    brass running lights (port and a starboard specifically). I've look in
    all of the usual places (Defenders, West Marine, Goldbergs and Boat
    US). Does anyone have any idea who carries brass running lights?

    Thanks,

    Tom Moore

2242.1Special OrderNWD002::RADKE_HOThu Oct 19 1995 01:358
    A good chandlery may be able to special order what you need from one of
    the main-line suppliers. Here in Seattle, Doc Freeman's and Crow's Nest
    allow customers to freely examine the suppliers catalogs and will order
    any item that they do not normally carry. As I recall, Perko used to
    have a line of oil running lights, but they may not have been brass.
    Aqua Signal would be another possibility.

2242.2Found them...PCBUOA::MOORETThu Nov 16 1995 12:5515
    Hi one and all, well I tracked down who makes the running lights in
    question ...Wilcox and Crittenden, there located in Connecticut. I
    called and have a catolog comming if anyones is interested. The lights
    I'm looking for are tear shaped heavy brass that turn green with age.
    Their well made (I have the stern and mast head light bought about 30
    plus years ago (never used)) thats where I got the address ... from the
    box.

    So if anyone is interested in the catolog just drop me a note...

    Cheers,

    Tom

2242.3Oil Anchor LampsNWD002::RADKE_HOWed Nov 22 1995 00:126
    When the catalogs arrive could you check for oil anchor lights? We are
    interested in buying a good one (Coast Guard approved if possible) with
    a fresnel lens. I have seen the Den Haan lamps carried by West Marine,
    but these do not look practical, and they are expensive.

	Re: 0.3
	Worth looking for a practical oil lamp.

	I have the Den Haan light from West Marine.
	Not easy to use as an anchor light - unless you get up
	often to check it, which for me defeats the whole purpose of
	having the anchor light which is to eliminate worry
	and attain relaxed sleep!

		I has been blown out in strong wind!
		It has covered the rear of the boat with soot!
		It has leaked!
		The top opens and if the light is roughly treated
			it can open itself!

	If you find something really practical, please let us know.

	Mike
