2226.0. "Just Visiting!!" by SNAX::DEMOSS () Tue Jul 04 1995 12:22

Well,, I thought I posted this back in April... I was suprised that I did not
hear anything, even a "Get Lost!!", on this.. I guess I should post it now!!

I will in Seattle Washington this year for a few days and was looking for any
info of going for a sail.. I would love to sail the bay up there!! Is there
any info on possibly a sailing club, or a rental, or possibly a person that
needs some excuse to go out for a day with a family from the "other" coast??

We will be there from August 23 thru the 26th...

Any help or info would be welcome...

Thanks
`Charlie'

2226.1Seattle Sailing RentalsORCAS::JESCHKE_ANMon Jul 17 1995 18:3116
    If your looking for an afternoon rental in the Seattle area, you can
    try Island Sailing Club. They have locations on Lake Washington, and
    Desmoines, (salt water ~15 miles south of Seattle). Their number is
    206-822-2470.

    I'd steer away from Lake Washington on sunny weekend afternoons - the
    lake can get pretty choppy from all the activity. Except for then,
    the lake is a nice place to sail and provides decent swimming from
    July through mid October.

    There are also numerous charter operations that operate in the San
    Juan Islands. If anyone wants more information on these, I can send
    the lastest classified adds from the local sailing rag on request.

    The Wooden Boat Center is on the lake in downtown Seattle and rents
    small wooden sailboats by the hour. After a brief checkout sail with
    an instructor, I took a Beatle Cat out for a few hours of puttering
    around the lake the last time I was out there and had a great time.
