2218.0. "Info on O'Day 20 needed" by STNKBG::MELENDEZ () Mon Jun 12 1995 19:36
Ahoy,
I am the proud owner of a 20' Oday sloop it is a day
sailer and has a shoal keel. I can sail this gem in
less than 18 inches of water. The boat has a plaining
hull and seems to be able to exceed the expected hull
speed, if I have on provisions (extra Weight). The boat
sleeps 4 in a small cabin. This boat has taken me to the
channel Islands (all of them) of California, San Fransico
to the Mexican boarder and beyond. After having read a
few of the notes on the boat I guess the old saying what
you dont know can't hurt you is clearly true. I have had
this boat out in heavy sea's and she performed well for
me. This boat was purchased new in 1976 and I have replaced
the sail's and rigging. Since my wife and I have had
kids, I have not had the boat in the water.
I am in the process of getting it ready for the local
lake's here in the Mojave desert.
If you have any info on these boats I would like to hear
from you. I am also in need of a few new pieces of teak
and would apreciate any pointers to sources.
I am also interested in finding any old main sails or jibs.
that you might have that would fit this old lady.
Ah yes A tall ship (ok shorter than most) and a Star to
steer her by.
Thanks for reading
