To be honest, I do not quite know how to phrase this. I guess I am primarily testing the waters for interest. My partner is an older gentleman who lives in Winchester. He nolonger can see well enough to drive, but still loves short sails and just puttering about the boat. He has expressed some interest in daysailing with others. Crew Requirements: Pick Dick up at his home and return him after sailing. Dick is the captain you are crew and eyes etc. This is NOT performance sailing. However, Dick will probably have you at the helm most of the time. Be aware that there may be little or no sailing, dependent largely on Dick's health this year. Optional: Join Dick, and a fellow octagenarian (Sam) as they recommission their Choey Lee B30's for another season. HOLIDAY II is a Choey LEE B30 ketch. This boat was built in 1965. She is a heavy 30' with wood spars etc. She sails out of Manchester by the Sea. She is currently in the Yankee Marine yard in Danvers. Sailing is along the north shore. I really enjoy Dick and Sam. Their combined sailing covers over 100 years of experience. Just listening to the quietly stated stories is worth it to me. If nothing else, Dick really knows how to sail HOliday II. He was single handing her just a couple of years ago. Doug Claflin dtn 592-4787 hm 719 596-7485

My wife Amy, and brother Greg have been prepping Holiday II for the water. She gets wet tomorrow! Onto Manchester on Thursday. I keyed sitting 6800 feet above sea level, and having been snowed on this weekend, rain the rest of the time. Potential crew are still welcome, to sail with Dick Ashenden for the first half of the year. Sorry, but you can not ship my hull, or varnish my bright work. Doug dtn 592-4787 hm 719 596-8485 |
