I would like to use this topic for names on reliable YACHT Broker's.

I'm looking for some Yacht Broker's in EAST USA who can also help me

    See if you can find a copy of SAIL magazine, or have a buddy pick up
    a copy next time they are in the States. Most Airport newstands carry
    it. Half the magazine is east cost brokers along with boats/prices.
    The ones that have a BUCNEC symbol can find what you are looking for
    electronically.

    For clean fresh water boats, get a copy of SAILING magazine. Most of
    these are in the Mid West,but they also get ads from some of the larger
    brokers.

    Once you find what you are looking for, let us know, and hopefully we
    can tell you how good the brokerage is .

2169.2Jim Munro Buzzards Bay Yacht SalesWRKSYS::SCHUMANNUHF computersThu Sep 22 1994 17:5512
I just sold a boat through Jim Munro, Buzzards Bay Yacht Sales,
Westport, MA.

Jim seems like a nice guy. I think he's on the multiple listing network.

Phone 508 636 4010

You can also find MANY brokers in Soundings magazine. There are numerous
individual ads in Soundings also.

2169.4hard to buy from so far away!WRKSYS::SCHUMANNUHF computersTue Sep 27 1994 13:3415
The east coast sailboat market is in a state of flux. There have been some
reports of brisk sales this year, but there are also boats that have been on
the market for a long time, and cases of boats sold for deep discounts off their
asking price.

Particularly at this time of year, you may be able to make a lowball offer
to an anxious seller, and get a very good deal.

Your broker is showing you asking prices. He should also be able to show
you recent selling prices for similar boats.

The Catalinas have a better reputation than the Hunters, and will hold their
resale value better.

2169.5Ex-Digital Broker needs business ... ZIGLAR::KMAYESStarboard!Thu Sep 29 1994 13:5527
Name of Brokerage: Wingfield Yachts Ltd
Name of Broker: Dick Kreitzer, Bruce Wilson
Address:	    Shipwright Harbor
City:		    Deale
State:		    MD
Tel. no.	    (301)261-9480
FAX  no.	    ??

Dick is an ex Digital employee who is also a recognized yacht surveyor
(BOATUS has accepted his survey reports for insurance purposes). Since
he is now selling, he is not doing surveys (conflict of interest etc).

The brokerage subscribes to the BUC System.

BTW, I do not agree that Catalinas have a better reputation than Hunters
... it probably depends on where you live and sail. In my humble opinion.
Clearly, both are sold in large numbers in this country. Other brands that
I looked at before my recent purchase were C&C and Pearson.

Actually, what you can do is tell the brokerage your price range and size,
and ask them to extract a report of all sail boats meeting your criteria.
Remember that asking price may be $10K higher than selling price in the
$40K - $50K, 34' - 35' group.  The report will contain hundreds of listings.

Keith
