Anyone who is interested on 1/2" nylon braid on braid rope Spag's has 100 footers on sale for $ 30.97 about 31c a foot. Cheapest I could find on catalogs was 46c. I also saw 50 footers of 1/2" and some other sizes all on the cheap.

re .0: A word of caution: Rope, like most products, varies in quality. I once bought some cheap rope ..... never again. The stuff was junk. Nowadays, I buy only name brand, quality rope from a reputable supplier. Your choice, of course.

most the time, the 1/2 braided at spags is Samson's gold braid. Not exactly clothes line.

Well.. what do I know about ropes.Anyway the rope ain't Yale neither Samson. It was made by a company named Wellington-Puritan in Georgia. I did get a couple of 100's (used the money alocated for a pair of shoes) My reasoning is that the 1/2" is not for the inexperience and anytime it is for sale it goes very fast which to me means the users(expierienced) buy it again.Last year I missed out because I did't carry any money. When I went back it was gone.Of course you can argue that cheapies buy it instead. As for FranK insulting my rope..I think he wants to get even with me(smile). He probably didn't forget the foggy night that we were lost in the Block Island Harbor (new) one hour on the dingy trying to find the boat. I was skippering the dingy. By the way Frank, it happened again last year but this time I was prepered with a flashlite and a hand bearing compass. ......We still got lost.... Peace. Mike K. |
