1959.0. "ventilation of O/B in stern well" by AIDEV::TRNTBL::thompson (Mike) Wed Nov 11 1992 11:43
This note may interest owners of small cruisers with 'traditional
lines' which have an outboard engine in a stern well. I believe the
benefit of this is aesthetic.
It is usual to have two dorades, one pointing forward and the other
pointing astern. On my CD-25, I did not find this sufficient. When
motoring slowly and/or downwind, exhaust entered the well, engine revs fell
and the engine began to run roughly.
This season, I replaced one dorade with a 12v ventilator* attached to a 4
inch flexible pipe that descended into the lower part of the well. It
works very nicely. I can now motor under any conditions with the top and
front engine covers both closed.
