A few of us are currently planning on chartering a 49' sloop
from the Ft. Lauderdale area during this years Lauderdale to Key West
race week (jan 9 thur jan 19)(more or less). We are also planning
on driving a J30 down by truck for the actual race. Since I will
be the skipper on the 49 and also crew on the J30, the trip is
planned as follows:
Arrive Lauderdale on the 9th. board the 49 sloop and also
drop the J30 in the water. The racing crew will be down on tue
to 'build the boat'. In the mean time we will sail to Key West.
On tuesday I and any other crew from the 49' will fly up to lauderdale
for the race. We will then race to Key West , there.. meeting the
crusing boat. The 49 will act as tender for a day in Key West.
After the race we will take the 49 to bimini and then back to
lauderdale.
Whats my point?
We are looking for anyone interested in chartering and sailing with us
...perhaps a second boat or if someone is planning a trip around that
time meeting up for a day or something...

I FEEL LIKE THE CAPTAIN OF A BOAT FROM HAITI... :) We are now almost 8 people over the number we can take. And a couple more just sent me mail expressing an interest. I would be willing to front for a second boat... ie get all the papers together, plan the trip etc etc ... *IF* I can find a GOOD captain for the second boat. If we can get a second captain to aggree to take charge of boat number 2 , we can take another 6 or 8 people (depending on the comfort level of the skipper and boat size. PS: I have secured a second 40'+ sloop but I need a definite captain to nail the second boat down. We have to finalize this by the end of the month. (as to captain and crew) ANYONE who wrote me and did NOT get a berth as of today. First, sorry... I was overwhelmed with requests. Second, PLEASE enter a reply in the topic so we can get a second crew together. I have a cople leads to a second captain so if you are truly interested plop your name and stuff as a reply to this topic. If there is enough response i'll start the process of a second boat.
